Works as intended. for parts

Installed on my 2002 Saturn SL1 about a month ago. The engine was running colder than usual so I decided to replace tstat. Did ECTS and thermostat at the same time, changed coolant and now my engine runs halfway between 1/4 and 1/2. The part seems to work great. I didn't use RTV sealant and it doesn't leak. The hardest part of the job was working under the air conditioning compressor.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Not as advertised on thermostats

This thermostat (made in China) is advertised as a 95 degree thermostat but the manufacturer of the thermostat lists it as a 188 degree thermostat. Using the same Stant part number 14279 in an E-Bay search, all listings for this thermostat are 188 degrees. Bought for a 2002 Saturn SL1, engine temp never went above 1/4 as did the old thermostat which was replaced. We assume 192 degrees. Motorcycle 324-192 made in Germany.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Excellent price. My 1995 Saturn SL burns VERY.

Great price. My 1995 Saturn SL burns a lot of fuel when the operating temperature is below 190 degrees. My previous thermostat failed and the temp never went above 1/4 of the scale. Lots of power but the economy went down and I had very little heat in the winter. A tip: be VERY CAREFUL when removing the thermostat housing from the engine - these screws break easily. Use hex socket ONLY.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Modern

Great item especially as it comes with installation tool

This signature thermostat was quick to install on my Saturn S Series and it was particularly easy as they include a rigid circuit board and tube to install a thermostat in a water gooseneck. My original opened too early, so the engine management computer gave a code that the water temperature was too low, especially in winter. This thermostat fixed that by no longer resetting the code in cold weather.

Pros
  • . Top marks for support and durability from testers.
Cons
  • Zero

195°F as stated despite the label.

When I first got this thermostat I was concerned because the packaging said 188°F and the thermostat itself says 87°C (which is 188°F). However, I installed it because previous commenters said it works in Saturn S-Series vehicles. It works great and the coolant temp (which shows on my ScanGuage) goes up to 195°F as advertised. Be careful opening it Be sure to save the cardboard cylinder that comes with the kit. This cardboard tube will be used to remove the old part and install the new…

The machine was not working properly in my application. I went through everything before attempting the obvious. The install was a success on my 1997 Saturn, there was one problem, the o-ring was a little big but I smeared on some dielectric grease to keep it in place and once the cap was straight I pulled them with the correct torque. and no leaks. The engine now warms up well and the temperature sensor is not fooled into believing that the car is cold. I used to stop at stop signs and in cold

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

It's 195F even though it says 188F on the box. See below.

It's confusing that the box says 188F. Of course, I wanted the 195F, so I almost returned it, but then I did a little research on the discussion forums, and one forum dedicated to Saturn cars says that for the 1429 stunt, "the starting point for the opening 188F and the full is flow is 212F, 195F is a pint. where first all the water is passed through the radiator and the bypass is shut off. That's the right part." So that's the right part for Saturns. I installed it and it works great. Now my…
