Check your server's weight before buying a wall shelf

I was planning to buy a much cheaper vertical wall shelf like this but then took a minute to check the weight specs . Turns out the cheaper frame was priced at £45. I then looked up the weight of the server chassis I wanted to install and it was 60 pounds. Ouch! So I bought this one instead and I'm glad I did. The 6U has a load capacity of 200 pounds and is very durable. I weigh about 200 pounds and I can do pull ups on this rack. Be sure to drive a few large screws directly into the wall studs

I love this product.

I work as an IT professional for a small business and in many cases I need a single server rack. Startech makes these racks in 2, 3, and 4U heights and they're all great. I use them all the time and have never felt the need to find another supplier. They are cheap, durable and serve a very specific purpose. Nothing more to say. If you need to rack mount a 2, 3 or 4U server (provided there is adequate ventilation) then this is all you need. I've used it with a set of extendable rails to mount…

Ideal for entertainment cabinets or under tables

I have two of these shelves and love them! I wish they weren't so expensive but they are very high quality. I have used cheaper frames like this in the past and sometimes they were warped or bent. Not in this case. I installed one of these under a shelf in my TV cabinet. I have a Furman power conditioner at the top of the rack that powers everything and provides current regulation and surge protection. Below that I have a 2U shelf that contains a cable box and a classic SNES. Below I have a 1U…

Probably not recommended, but I have one of these for .

They are very well made. They may not be recommended, but I used one to wall mount a 60lb 2U rackmount UPS. The UPS is in an upright orientation with both rack ears pointing to the right and both bracket mounting screws installed in the same rack (the UPS is not hanging from the bracket). About a week later I placed a small triangular shelf bracket under the back of the UPS. I wanted to do this from the start but the mounts were delayed and arrived a few days later. During that week I did not…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Large and bulky

I didn't have much room in my utility closet at my old house. The vertical rather than horizontal orientation allowed me to use traditional network equipment without taking up as much horizontal space. I used the following components with the stand and they worked great: Monoprice Keystone Connector Panel, 24 Ports Cable Matters® 25-Pack Cat6 RJ45 White Keystone Connector, and Keystone Punch-Down Leviton Stand 41106-RW6 Voice Class QuickPort Connector, White TP -LINK TL-SG1016 10/100/1000Mbps…
