Easy to set up Works very well

Now that I'm working from home, I have to juggle multiple laptops and am running out of office space. I bought this KVM because my laptops don't work. no VGA connectors. All I had to do was connect a USB 2 Type B cable and an HDMI cable from each computer to the switch and an HDMI cable from the switch to the monitor. Followed the steps in the manual I had to download as they aren't included and everything worked great. The image on the screen is clear and I don't notice any lag when using the…

One of them works great. Other no

I've bought two of these in the last few months. One of them works great. The other doesn't work. The one that doesn't work properly has video playback problems. The problem is that the screen is smudged with blue pixel video noise. It also periodically loses sync. In this case, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then reappears (still covered in junk pixels). As it sat on my shelf for a while before trying to use it, unfortunately it expired after a couple of weeks. . I buy a lot of…

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Update: I don't know why all the reviews about this device are so good. Maybe people don't come back and revise over time. Initially I was very impressed with the parameters of this device and it worked fine for a while. However, after a year everything got worse. When I got it back it worked fine for a couple of months and then the same problems. Video and USB ports keep failing and sometimes you can't fix them. The only thing you can do is bypass it. To make matters worse, I ordered a new one

Didn't work, chose CKL-942HUA instead

I read the bad reviews on here but hoped I wouldn't see the same problems. Not correct. I have a MacBook Pro, an HP laptop with an HP Dual Port Display Dock, a MacBook Air, and a home desktop with an Nvidia GTX 1070. Try your best with cables, adapters, replacement parts, and more. no, no joy. I couldn't get stable images no matter what I tried. The monitors went off and on frequently, rendering them unusable. I bought a CKL-942HUA, plugged it in instead of StarTech and everything works fine…

Reliable and bug free

I've been using this for a few months now to run a dual monitor setup, keyboard, mouse and USB 3 hub (including additional peripherals and microphone) between 4 PCs including my personal and mine work, share computers. I literally had zero problems. It's expensive, but every cheaper KVM switch I've used has become unbearable or stopped working after a month or two. If you have a serious multi-machine setup and need a no-nonsense, no-nonsense KVM switch, this guy is for you.

sporadic error: missed 3/4 of key presses

The problem is getting worse. Lots of troubleshooting to rule out any other possibility. Same problem with wired and USB keyboards (which work great when connected to other KVMs and directly to laptops). Seems to be on the input side as the problem occurs on both outputs. The problem is also intermittent: it can function normally for several days and then skip three out of four keystrokes for several days.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • May corrupt

I used to buy KVM switches and never had anything that worked as if it was connected to a real computer. There is always a problem with an external device of one type or another. StarTech devices have a reputation for superior quality but are more expensive than devices from other brands. I ended up spending the extra money on StarTech and all I can say is that it's the most worth the extra cost. The case, the quality, the performance is far better than anything I've had. Now I will only buy…
