Too many for single use

Seems like a great/reliable product but I could do without it for just a set of doors for the price. I'm sure I'll find more uses in the future, but quite expensive for a single barrel tool. The jack tool was a lot more useful than this. I think it's nice to have some solid tools for other occasional uses.

  • Complete set
Cons
  • Some flaws

Good idea, just not that great.

Seems like a good idea but only works a few times. I had to remove two hinge pins. One came out as it should and the other refused. Even after being hit with a 20-pound sledgehammer, it just bounced off and the pivot refused to budge. This tool contains too much spring to transfer 100% of the impact force to the pen.

impractical but works.

Better than nothing, but she likes to pop out of the needle when hit hard. tappy tap tap and in the end it will do the trick. If your hinges are over 30 years old, it's probably a hinge and not bushings or pins. was neglected for too long for my 91st anyway and the bushing holes were loose so the new parts didn't do anything. I used a socket tool that goes between the latch and the body so I can put the whole door back to normal. worked great, although I'm not sure I'll be replacing the weldedโ€ฆ

A must-have tool for Chevy pivot pin replacements.

Impossible work made almost easy. These tools worked great in my '99 Chevy Blazer. Take some caliper grease to lubricate the bronze bushing when installing and spray white lithium grease on the pins every time you change the oil and you may not need to use these tools again. Wind. Without retracting the pen, hitting the pen directly with a hammer is not possible, and hitting the pen with a grazing blow just doesn't work. Don't forget to completely remove the locking ring before you startโ€ฆ

Well profiled but made of cheap metal.

Replaced door hinge pins and bushings on my 1998 GMC K1500 Single Cab, today 19th February 2017. I have used this tool and a door spring compression tool and bushing tool from the same company and was amazed at how much easier they were working with these tools. They are cheap metal and after a few hits they started to grow like mushrooms on the tip of the tool and socket. The tool was more suited to removing the trunnions than reinstalling them. I would definitely recommend these tools toโ€ฆ

The tool helped me, but it wasn't the whole tool.

It works but not as smoothly as I had hoped. Good for the top pin on the '99 Blazer, but I hit the bottom pin a bit and then broke the air chisel with a sharp point and the pin popped out. The flat bar that comes with it seems to me that the notch is not big enough for the pins. The letter "U" should be bigger to help me. If you don't have a huge selection of tools I would suggest buying this for the money. For the price if you have a great tool set (mine hasn't worn out as it's a former wrench

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Best money for body repair tools

For years I've used the typical tool kits to knock out and replace GM door hinge pins, usually with lots of swearing, blood and scratched paint. Since I needed to replace pins on both front doors on my new 96 Suburban, I decided to give this tool a try. Best money I've spent in a long time! What used to be an annoying experience turned into a 10 minute chore on each door. I also used the bushing tool https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O3PI3C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 whichโ€ฆ
