Perfect Fit - Easy to install

They fit my 2003 4Runner perfectly and are very easy to install. They work right out of the box, but I can't comment on durability. At least one of them seems to make a slightly smoother bypass noise than the originals when opening the hood. But now they work great!

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Minor issues

Fast, Light, Strong in 2005 4 Skids

Great price. retail price fraction. Free shipping. I removed the old one and installed the new one on a 2005 4-runner in five minutes. There seems to be a very strong hope that they will last. set information. I didn't have a left or right side that I could see so work on either side of the silver side goes to the engine. Take care of your head :).

Pros
  • Good Stuff
Cons
  • Available in White Only

EXACT match OEM, skip generic ones.

Lexus GX470. Tried the ones you need to snap into a ball joint from my local auto parts store. As a result, my hood fell right on top of me. They are required where the ball joint is pressed in at the factory. Durable and perfect fit for Toyota/Lexus. (GX470, 4-Runner, etc.)

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • I don't remember

These hood struts work great!

easy.easy install. Unpacking took longer than installation. Very powerful luggage rack, the hood is fixed absolutely securely in the raised position. If you've ever had your hood fall on your head while checking liquids, you know this is no joke. Hitting the hood latch will rip off a chunk of flesh. These are inexpensive (compared to OEM) racks and well worth buying.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • New competitors have arrived

Can't believe I would have done this a few years ago!

The hood struts on my 2004 4Runner failed years ago. I never thought of a replacement, I don't know why. I bought it for $25 and the installation was rated about a 1 on a scale of 1 to 5 for difficulty. I'll need a 12mm open-end wrench and something to support the hood (a vise attached to the post or a stick to hold the hood, etc.). This caused some problems for 1 person and 2 people would have made things easier. But it was a great cheap upgrade and the A-pillars are very well made and hold…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • No paint required

2005 4runner Limited V8 Perfect fit

In my opinion these are the best hood stays for the 2005 4runner. They installed nuts and washers just like the Original Equipment OEM cowl stays. No brackets and nothing more than washers required for some other types of luggage racks. One man's work, but I found myself supporting the hood with open crutches I had lying around when I sprained my ankle a few years ago. The crutch is adjustable and is used to hold the hood open. Do one side at a time. You will need a short 12mm open-end wrench…

Pros
  • Easy to read dashboard
Cons
  • Replacement availability
