I've been using SB hooks for over 30 years and this hook is unlike any other Bates hook I've had. I don't know if the quality has gone down or what. Yellow color is, well, "sticky" for lack of a better term. It does not run smoothly through the yarn. I tried buffing it with a soft cloth to see if there was any coating on it that might come off and the yellow paint started peeling off the cloth. I ended up buffing the paint with fine sandpaper and some steel wool and it works better but still…

Unfortunately the company chose a very cheap material for the cord. It has so much storage (rolled up in the packaging) that takes hot water, hanging a weight from a hook (I threaded it through a heavy cotton ball and put a needle stopper on the end), then a hot hair dryer. Still bending. It would be nice if the cable could be rotated. It can be done. I have high quality circular needles with a soft plastic cord and a swivel that attaches the needle to the cord.
