Description of TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive 6-Point Socket (14130) for Efficient Mechanic Work

6-point opening snugly fits hex-shaped fastener heads to apply maximum torque without slipping. Advanced design grips flat sides of fastener heads, not corners, to prevent round off. Shallow well and slim walls allow socket to fit into tight, narrow spaces. Detent notches in drive end lock onto ratchets and extensions. Made from premium chrome vanadium steel with a durable mirror chrome plated finish.

Excellent customer service

So just to clarify you can get an MIT jack or a Tekton jack. It's the same, only the engraving is different. In my case I needed a Tecton socket for my Tecton set and got the MIT socket. Customer service was great, they replied same day and solved the problem. 5 stars for customer service

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Negative gift

You can never have enough 10mm sockets

A good spare socket in case I inevitably lose all my other 10mm sockets. Good chrome plating, no visible defects, strong and sure to the touch. CoO is Taiwan, but don't let that put you off. Until SBD starts making Craftsman hand tools again in the US, Tekton will be my go-to for decent quality tools at a good price.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Doesn't perform

Strong enough for the big leagues!

A very well made replacement for an outlet I accidentally dropped in the street drain. This is a very high quality product and should last a lifetime! I'm glad I found this one because I've used it at least a dozen times since losing the original and it still looks brand new. The only thing I really appreciate is how durable the material actually is. I've used it with a 1/2" jackhammer and it got the job done with ease. Tekton makes fantastic tools! I recommend them to everyone.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Crumpled

Difficult to open, easy to use

There is a warning on the packaging that it cannot be used with an impact wrench. I think I need to buy a set specifically for impact wrenches. In addition, the package that comes with the kit should contain removal instructions. It is stuck in the square and cannot be pulled out. That is, until you cut a thin strip of plastic that allows one of the legs to snap in and detach it from the mount. Not hard to do once you get the hang of it. Those two issues aside, this is a fine tool and I look…

Great product, even better warranty

The 10mm nut/bolt seems to be the most common nut/bolt size in the automotive industry. I am always working/fixing my machines so 10mm sockets are used all the time. Because they are used so often, I often lose 10mm. I bought this to replace a lost 10mm head in my kit. Obviously buying one socket per socket is more expensive than buying the whole set, but the rest of my set works fine so I only had to replace one. It appears to be a very well built outlet, and you can't beat the lifetime…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Good but not great

Savior! on hand tools

I bought this particular 15mm socket because I have a Saturn Ion which has a 15mm hex drain plug. I have about 6 different socket sets and only one of them has a 15mm socket. Everyone else is 14 and 17, not 15 or 16. Unfortunately the one 15mm head I had was a 12 point and after two years of trouble free use this past weekend it rounded the corners of the drain plug. >:( Luckily I found this clutch from Revain, ordered it and received it quickly and was able to complete my oil change. This…

Tekton = more than your money

Tekton tools keep getting bigger because: A) they work (and they work well!) B) their price, quality and warranty are amazing to me What these As for sockets, I bought to remove the nuts and work with a 3/8 drive breaker. As a do-it-yourselfer, I don't need professional tools, and I don't want something so cheap that it breaks after one or even three uses. Tekton products appear to be well made, often made in Taiwan or the US (those places tend to make quality tools) and I appreciate their…

Works and works well; Sturdy well made head at a great price

Cut through my old 13mm hex (made in USA) Thorsen which is over 35 years old. I will admit that I applied significant torque when loosening some disc brake bracket bolts. I had to use a 1/2 inch wrench and socket head. Replaced it with this one and Tekton impressed me. There will be snobs who despise anything that isn't made in the USA. I had the same disdain for Asian instruments. from China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan 30-40 years ago and it was well deserved. Since then the situation has changed

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Unusable features
