Sturdy enough! for aquarium cleaner

This Tetra Water Care Aquarium Water Bucket is strong enough to get the job done. I have a 55 gallon tank for my two goldies. I know, I know. They're spoiled, but that's what you do when you love fish. Sometimes even such a relatively large aquarium can get dirty, especially at certain times of the year when warmer weather sets in, they try to circle each other and spawn. The water becomes cloudy and stinks. I pump it out with a Tetra Gravel Siphon, but for that I need a long pipe to pour water

Works well for vacuuming up aquarium debris

The Tetra water siphon is good for vacuuming up aquarium water with 30% monthly water changes. The siphon is easy to use - just insert the wide plastic tube into the tank and then start pumping the blue bulb to get the water flowing. Personally, I don't find it any easier to use than a siphon without a lightbulb (to fill this, simply turn the tube upside down, hold it vertically so that the water starts to run down, and then turn it back in an upright position underwater to invert starting the…

I have a couple of these aquarium cleaners because I have several aquariums of different depths. This was suggested for my review and I have one that is leaking badly in the squeeze bulb that I was looking to replace. I didn't pay attention to the hose length in the description, but this works best for a fairly short tank. If your water column is more than 30 cm, your hands will be under water when using this device. The hose is also thin. It's clearly intended for a smaller tank - maybe 10-20…

Okay but it's a WHITE bucket

I've always been happy to use the 5 gallon bucket from my hardware store to clean my tanks and I'll admit I laughed when I saw that there is this custom bucket, but I thought why don't you try it. Well, there are definitely some benefits to using this dedicated fish supplies bucket. First, it is very clearly labeled that it is for fish. I don't have to worry about my husband confusing my fish bucket (which I marked with a marker but can be missed) for any of the other identical buckets we have.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Something else

I have 4 aquariums of different sizes. The siphon is MANDATORY for water changes. I change the bucket because I prefer not to do it to/from the sink, but such systems exist. So if you do water changes like I do, always have a separate siphon for each tank first to avoid cross-contamination. I actually needed a new siphon for one of my 20 gallon tanks so when I was offered this Tetra siphon I was absolutely ready to try it. At the time of review, this siphon costs $10.49. The siphon is delivered
