I haven't had this in a very long time so I can't comment on its durability but it seems to work great for my purposes. (Monitoring the temperature gradient in a reptile enclosure) Can't beat the bang for the buck as long as it lasts.

Extremely handy when using a frying pan. We have an electric hob that's not easy to tell when the pan is done and I use it every time I want to add something to the pan to make sure it's not too hot or underdone.

Bought for cooking, checking the temperature of pans and oil. I have used it on electrical circuits and switches. He's good at these things, but he doesn't measure people accurately. He just told me my forehead was 93.4F.

I use this to check the temperature when making soap. It's easy to use and easy to read. It's also a lot of fun to photograph random things and check their temperature. I bought this unit to test heating and cooling in a rental apartment, which I found to be erratic and inconsistent. The vents are in the ceiling and I couldn't reach to check them. With this device I was able to search for the problem and the maintenance staff agreed with my finding and it was fixed. So that solved my problem. If you want an easy way to know what temperature your vents are coming from, this is a really great device.

I searched Revain for the cheapest version of this thermometer, knowing the old adage "you get what you pay for".
