I will not buy again

This thermometer was purchased for a poultry processing plant. And it doesn't work. I've bought a few in the past not knowing there was a problem with them until our QC department came and told me they were useless. They work the first time and never again. We tried changing the batteries but that didn't work either. I will not buy again.

Only 6 months left until calibration

DO NOT BUY THIS. Very very disappointing! The name is pretty clear. The thermometer reads 125 degrees Fahrenheit in room temperature water. BIGGEST PROBLEM: The end user cannot recalibrate this thermometer. I have to send the thermometer in for evaluation, "there will be a recalibration fee and then I have to pay for the return shipping." Terrible experience with. Don't waste money and time.

That was my second. The first had to go back to the Revain because it wouldn't turn on despite changing the battery. The second worked great on 2 beers and then in the middle of a triple brew mash it went crazy and now it's showing 134.7 as the ambient temp. So I changed the battery again. Still says it's hotter than a day in the Sahara. I wrote to Thomas Scientific hoping they could fix the bug so we'll see. Maybe the 3rd time will be a spell?

Overall effective product

I've been looking for a good waterproof thermometer that won't die after the first use and I found it. A bit pricey for what it is but I'm glad I have it and will continue to use it. My only complaint would be the tiny display, which can be difficult to read in low light. This and the fact that the mini suction cup on the probe appeared to melt or deform in boiling water after the first use rendered it unusable. And if there were another complaint, it would be the lack of features. For the…

Stopped working after 3 months and only used once

Bought this product to control the temperature of beer at home. I used it once and it worked like a champ, but I pulled it out a second time and it showed 154 degrees Fahrenheit for room temperature. I changed the battery according to the instructions, no change. Unfortunately it has been 3 months since I ordered the product, so I can no longer return it. I have emailed Thomas' company to see what can be done now. If I get good reviews/repair/replacement I'll update this review, but at this…

Buyer warning! suitable for testing, measuring and checking

This item comes with an official looking calibration sheet etc etc. I've been scammed twice but I won't do it again. I use thermometers to monitor the water temperature when I "dunk" my oyster stacks to kill biofouling but not the oysters. Piles of oysters are dipped into a giant vat (112 cubic feet) of water heated to 140 degrees (F) and held there for exactly 40 seconds. A little too hot or too cold will either kill the oysters or not kill the biofouling. The first of these items I bought was
