Great replacement for old built-in Wi-Fi laptop

Replaces built-in 2.4GHz 802.11N WiFi in a 4-5 year old Lenovo gaming laptop. It stopped working as well and had a particularly difficult time staying connected to the newer AC Wave 2 routers. I downloaded the Windows 10 drivers from the website, plugged in the USB adapter and just installed the drivers. Pros: Nano-sized, think the same size as the Logitech Unifying Receiver USB adapter. You can leave a medium or larger sized laptop all the time and it won't get in your way. Only works on 5GHz.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • weak

Does NOT work on Linux

This is a very technical post, if you are familiar with this then read on. To recap for everyone else, this product no longer works on Linux. Old versions of this product did. Current No. Shame on TP-Link for false advertising and shame on TP-Link for changing the technical aspects of a product without providing a corrected model number, resulting in the loss of many hours of tail hunting. It is with great sadness that I write to you that this product is no longer available. works with linuxโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Tough start but so far in business.

I bought 4 of these in October 2016 to take advantage of the 5G speed and reliability for my 4 Windows 10, 2 Dell and 2 HP PCs. It's now January 2017. I think one of them failed (read on). Support was quick to respond, although RMAs are sent to TP-LINK in Canada, causing a delay in sending the device to TP-LINK for a replacement. Since they're relatively cheap, I don't even pay to track my RMAs. I figured the second one didn't go through and called support again. After testing, and just as weโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Doesn't work on Windows 10, waste of time. Leave!

This doesn't work with Windows 10. Not at all. The big problem seems to be that there is no fully functional driver for Windows 10. (A driver is software that connects your computer to whatever you connect to it.) Windows 10 usually automatically installs the correct driver as soon as you connect itโ€”not new hardware, but Windows can't find the driver. Next, I used the installation CD that came with it and followed the instructions to the letter - and hooray, Windows recognized the adapter andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Almost never

Delivery was very quick - received next day after ordering and it was Sunday! Kudos, mostly for restoring my internet access. My laptop's network card failed because I couldn't even see it in the list of adapters (when I went to the control panel). TP-Link Archer USB WIFI worked fine. Why not 5 stars? Well, it didn't work with my Windows 10 "Plug and Play" (it said on the box that it was compatible with Windows 8). So I had a Catch 22 situation where I had to go online to download their Windows

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Some difficulties
