Big improvement over AV500

Powerline Adapter Kit TP-Link AV2000 2-Port Gigabit Pass-Through Socket Up to 2000Mbps (TL-PA9020P Kit) I have several Powerline NICs 500Mbps from Netgear and one from D-Link . I was very happy with them but a bit disappointed that they don't work at around 500Mbps. My best connection averages around 200 Mbps and my worst connection around 80 Mbps. After a bad experience with 1200Mbps powerline adapters, I didn't have high hopes for these new 2000Mbps adapters. Advantages. In fact, they workโ€ฆ

Do your research first

Before you decide to buy, you should find out about the advantages and disadvantages of powerline adapters. I live in a narrow house that is more spacious vertically with more floors. Drilling and routing cables isn't easy, so I needed a different network solution. Wi-Fi is okay, but when I ran a speed test, I wasn't happy with the drop in speed or inconsistent results. I knew beforehand that I would see different results depending on the power line setup in your house. I also knew there was aโ€ฆ

Bullshit, BAD WiFi! - Specifications -

I think that more than 3000 reviews does not mean that the product is good. It just makes it harder to get quality product information. I wasn't really expecting to get 2Gbps (2 x 1Gbps) through the devices, I was hoping to get at least around 500Mbps. All of the people talking about running internet speed tests have to have a lot of components under test to really tell you that the problem is with the powerline hardware (although it probably is). When running a speed test, check yourโ€ฆ

Better than WiFi repeater but speed not as good as expected

TL;DR: Works better than a WiFi repeater or bridge. However, the speed is not as good as I had hoped. Situation: I have an annoying bug: a wireless router at one end of the house and my office (and bedroom) at the other. The wifi repeater I used (tried several) worked fine and sometimes dropped the connection. I also have aluminum wiring in most parts of the house that have not been upgraded. Pros: * Connection was easy. Plug them in, run the app on one side and press this button on the otherโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • No insurance

Works fine when powered by UPS

Couldn't find anyone talking about using them with UPS backup power. Most people debating how to connect them have emphasized plugging them straight into the wall, bypassing extension cords or power strips for maximum speed. I've been looking at the technology used in the latest generation of Powerline Ethernet devices and the HomePlug AV2 MIMO standard used in the adapters I've bought (TL-PA9020P) indicates that it does Can transmit data on neutral and ground wires as well as hot wires. Destroyed my C9 WiFi router

(Updated Review) Update on 2nd day of ownership: These powerline adapters completely destroyed my TP-Link Archer C9 router. is it a joke I've owned C9 since September 2015 (two months to three years) and it's almost perfect. During these tests of the powerline adapter, I never once touched my C9 (acting as a basic access point). About an hour after plugging in a pair of these powerline adapters (one floor below C9, one floor above) slowly but surely all my 2.4 devices, then 5.0G, go out. Myโ€ฆ
