Ideal as a spare part

I couldn't use the spring because of malfunctions, but that's not a problem. This and the new pulley fixed my transmission. Now happy.

Arrived next day and worked great

Bought for my brother who was overhauling the Tough Torq transmission on his Scotts tractor. Came the next day and fixed the problem. What more can you ask for?

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Ideal for spare parts

I have replaced this item with a 2002 John Deere. I decided to replace this part not wanting to replace a perfectly serviceable car. Installation was fairly easy once the gearbox was removed. I believe the installation time for the pump bearing kit was 20 minutes.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Pull out the old ones, put in the new ones.

C-Clamp tool required to remove C-Clamp just above bearing. I used a vise to grip the old shaft and a screwdriver to pry the old shaft up a bit as it didn't want to slide out. . I drained the oil bath so I could see what I was working with when I put the new shaft in. Caution: Be careful not to move any internal components.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not secure

OEM replacement for Tuff Torq K51A - Scotts S1642

All the comments below sum it up, it's not hard just takes time! -- Before removing the old drive shaft, drain the old oil. I've heard that Tuff Torq now recommends 5w-50 oil. I couldn't find that viscosity so I used Mobil 15W-50. The Tuff Torq website has instructions on how to bleed the unit once everything is done. It's pretty easy too. About 3 hours of work in total from start to finish. And that's from a man who's never removed the transmission from a race car! In short, remove the cutting

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Annoying
