Hope this works best in the Accessories & Supplies section

Looks good enough but honestly I don't know if they will work for a while. As for people complaining about not sending a ground screw. All you need is a 6-32 bolt and nut. It's not that important. Or use a self-tapping screw to hold it in place when penetrating grounded steel.

Thousands of damages could not be prevented due to poor construction

Equipment pole struck by lightning. This did not stop the wave from entering the home and burning thousands of dollars worth of equipment. And you can see why, that's bad design. The PCB traces are undersized and burn out, disconnecting the surge arresters from the Ethernet lines.

Essential for any outdoor antenna installation!

If you are installing an outdoor antenna or access point, DO NOT SKIP the surge suppression feature. This (type of) device is essential to protect your equipment from harmful and dangerous ESD and lightning strikes. While there is no guarantee that the damage caused by these events will be completely eliminated, a quality surge protector can greatly limit the damage and help reduce dangerous conditions.

  • Regular Price

  • Almost Everything Available

Compact and affordable

What can I say, this surge protector was exactly what I was looking for. I had wireless internet service at my house and wanted to make sure I had it installed to protect my indoor equipment from lightning strikes. Of course I didn't have any lightning strikes, but this product gives me peace of mind. I will update if its durability is ever tested. I'd say I wish the grounding was a little better, like a double nut setup, but it works.

Pros
  • Good item
Cons
  • Very expensive

Frustrated Ubiquiti fan. bad grounding.

One of the most important things in a surge protector is that the device is properly grounded. Ground is where the excess surge of electricity can be sent (instead of your device). Ubiquiti does not supply the accessories needed for good grounding. Instead, look for the right size nuts, bolts, and wire gauge to ensure a good grounding. Ubiquiti turns a 2 minute operation into extra man hours and increases the chance of bad ground/unprotected equipment.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Out of fashion

That does not work. Save your money

They don't work, save your money. Our cell was filled with water and the 24V surge melted the RJ45 jack and killed our switch port. The Ubiquiti Ethernet surge protector remains intact. This ETH-SP-G2 could not protect our devices even with such a small power surge. We had a ground rod 3 feet in the ground with a line just 13 feet from the camera and it got crisp. The camera was connected to the Ubiquiti Surge Surge Suppressor using the ToughCableCarrier and connectors. And the ETH-SP-G2 was…

Mandatory for WISP or for installing network cameras.

Keeps what it promises. Saved me on internal gear more than once. If lightning strikes your rooftop radio, it will burn out. These are not saved. They are not designed for that. They are designed to prevent lightning from going through the Ethernet cable and damaging devices on the other end. My only gripe with Ubiquiti is that they have to provide a lug to connect the ground wire instead of crimping the ring terminal onto the wire, which adds an extra step to my installation process. That's…

Difficult installation due to poor design

I really like Ubiquiti radios. Their software and performance are generally excellent. But these surge arresters have no mounting hardware and are difficult to install. First, the units require two screws to install in the standard "push down and slide down" manner, but the holes for this are too small for a six-bolt at my hardware store. So you'll have to drill them out to use an appropriately sized screw. The company could pack two screws in: It's basically a plastic box with two RJ-45…

This type of device is difficult to verify that it works as advertised. And considering how powerful a lightning strike or transient is, it's unfair to blame them when they ultimately fail to protect your gear. However, I'm giving this one a star because what I experienced discouraged me and destroyed any sense of protection I might have had. About 10 days ago we had a near lightning strike near my house. I don't know where the blow actually hit, but the damage was enough that I had to take…
