Not compatible with TRU8866 base station

I contacted Uniden for a compatible phone for my TRU8866 base station and was told the TCX905 is a new phone. Well it will not be on the base station for registration, nor will it be on the TCX860 phone chargers. However, the TCX860 handset fits correctly in the TCX905 charger. I contacted Uniden for an explanation that I'm sure I won't like. The TRU8866 proved to be an excellent system. When I needed to change batteries for the TCX860 I bought Duracells from K-Mart for a great price and they…

Best phone in a long time

Everything is great with this phone (except the issue below). I use it for my TRU-9485-2 phone as an additional handset. I've been using it for almost 4 years now with no problems. Last year I had to replace the batteries in my phones. The only problem I found was that I can't use my phone as a room monitor when placed on the charging dock. I have to turn it off in charging mode and only then can I listen in as a room surveillance receiver. I was going to use it as a room monitor for a child's…

Good phone but instructions not quite right

I bought this accessory phone to use with the Uniden TRU8866 base set. The user guide for each base dial model you use will tell you how to "register" an additional phone on the base dial so that it can be used. Unfortunately, the instructions for this phone regarding the base 8866 do not work! After some time with a confused Uniden man on the phone, they gave me the correct instructions: slide the battery cover off the phone (without removing the battery); Then plug it into the base's dial…

Now grotesquely overpriced

I bought this unit a year ago for $30. What happened!? I see it's around $150 now, probably because the base units that come with it are obsolete and no longer made. I used to buy my spare and extra units of this item in suspenders (they were the only ones wearing it) but I don't think they sell it anymore. Revain WAS it for the same price ($30 and no tax), but apparently it's a valuable antique now. The devices work well - the reception range is moderate, the voice transmission quality is…

Conclusion for buyers who already use 8866 or this series

This phone has a different design. I found the original feature layout better than this "update". There are some improvements and I found the distance to be a bit longer with 905. This is a big plus as the only area my phone is used was the 8866 dial limit. My biggest complaint, which you won't find by reading this, is that the manual doesn't properly describe how to activate the handset and you have to call to learn a simple trick to use it. Others in these reviews have shared the same problem

GREAT phone! in Phones & Accessories

This is the fourth of these phones that I have bought. Not because the others broke, but because I lost a few on our travels. The phones have excellent reception and are very, very reliable and durable. It seems other people I know swap out a new cordless phone about every two years and we still have ours from a few years ago with minor signs of use. And being able to hear your messages through the headset itself (rather than hunched over the base in the damn kitchen) is cool. I can sit on the…

Is there anything more durable

so I got my first phone a very long time ago I think 8-10 years. A few years later I got another one and last year the 3rd. I buy cheap batteries so I have to change them every year. I've read several reviews about how clunky and unrealistic their software is. I kind of agree. While the ringtones provided aren't very good or pleasant, they are more or less meant to be heard. They lasted forever (several years) due to heavy abusive use. not all of the time. several times I dropped one or the…
