Fell apart on day one

I really wanted to like it. I spent hours exploring all the options before settling on the Vortex Solo monocular. Just received the item today and enjoyed it from our balcony on the beach. Then the disadvantages appeared. Cons: 1. The rubber eyecup came off on the first day of gentle use (at home and on the porch).2. The case is a poorly made Chinese Koozie, not a durable one (contrary even to the instruction manual which shows a good carrying case). The cons are enough to make me return this…

Well it's bright, sharp and. much heavier and bulkier than I was offered. I looked closely at the reviews, photos and specs before deciding to purchase but was still surprised by its weight and weight when it arrived and had to hold it. Finally, I had a hard time keeping it from…

I'm an avid hiker (search and rescue) and ex-military sniper so I'm good with optics. I was looking for something to carry around in the woods that was lighter and less bulky than my small binoculars. Before buying the Vortex Solo I had a Brunton Echo Pocket Scope monocular with me, very small and light but no magnification and the image quality is relatively poor. I bought a Solo to fill the gap between my high-end binoculars and my pocket scope. The Solo is extremely durable (although it…

This is my first monocular, not my first experience with optics. This was done after extensive web research and gathering information. About the product: I chose 10x36. The hand feel is very good, the hard rubber is grippy and solid overall, it feels like it's well made with a good fit and finish. The lack of protective caps is good for convenient carrying and quick use, bad for storage, transport, or for people who care about keeping gear in good condition. Personally, I miss caps not only to…
