Type of review

I own a number of moderate to expensive Chef's Knives, and my interest was piqued by the pictures of this knife, and the exceptional price.IF it was all that it was cracked up to be. Well.for the most part, YES it was!First off, let's dispense with the idea that this is "Damascus" steel. It isn't, and neither is any other modern knife that makes that claim. Damascus steel hasn't existed in eons. "Damascus" today really refers to the engraved designs ON the blade that help to keep food from…

Pros
  • This is a sturdy and sharp knife. It's comfortable to hold and use. It leaves nice clean slices.
Cons
  • The knife might not fit into all knife blocks or holders

Not Damascus, but good carbon steel

This is not a Damascus knife (folded and hammered layers of metal), so I am docking one star. However, it is a good carbon steel knife. Looking closely at the pictures and researching AUS-8 steel reveal the high-carbon, non-Damascus nature of this knife. Imitation Damascus patterns are formed into the sides of the blade, however, they do help prevent slices from sticking to the blade. The first thing I noticed when unboxing the knife is the weight and balance of the blade. It feels like an…

Pros
  • 1 pounds
Cons
  • The sharpness of the blade might make it more dangerous for inexperienced cooks

A serious knife for serious cooks

This is a solid, heavy knife (heavier than my other chef's knives) with a good balance, from their Dragon Bone S Series. My hand doesn't slip from the grip onto the blade, which is a good thing because the knife is very sharp. The handle is so handsome, it looks like real wood. There is a plastic guard, but only for the very tip, and I wish it had been longer and covered more of the blade. The damascene pattern, oddly enough, was less appealing to me when I received it than when I saw it on the

Pros
  • WLP-D01S
Cons
  • The handle might not be the right size or shape to fit comfortably in all hands

Not Damascus, but still a good knife.

Let me start by saying that this knife is not Damascus Steel, it's just a regular SS knife with an imprint. That being said, this knife feels very good in the hand. It has a thick and weighted tang and handle. It has a pretty good balance, a little heavier on the handle side which I prefer. When it comes to the blade, it is very sharp and cuts very well, whether it be potatoes, or carrots, or meat, just about anything you want. For the price, well, I'm kind of on the fence here, I can't really…

Pros
  • Ergonomic G10 Handle
Cons
  • The weight and feel of the knife might be better suited for professionals, rather than home cooks

Very solid knife for the price

I bough this for a friend of mine for a Christmas present, she was previously using some serrated crap from ikea. The knife came sharp, and from what she has said holds an edge well, at least compared to her prior knife set.The blade pattern is very pretty. The only contention point I could see with this knife is that the handle is pretty big, and the knife is reasonably heavy. The decorative pins don't actually go though the tang, but I don't believe that will effect the long term durability.

Pros
  • great knife, more beauty that funtion but still a must buy
Cons
  • The 8.5-inch blade might be too large for some individuals to use comfortably

Super sharp and thin blade with sturdy handle

This fancy kitchen knife is impressive. The blade is very thin but so sharp. The handle is very heavy and strong. It has most of the weight which makes it feel secure in your hand and ergonomic. Because the blade is so thin it isn't meant for heavy duty cutting such a bones or tough meats. More like vegetables. It took me a short period getting used to the weight of the handle since the blade itself is so much lighter. I'm used to cutting with knives that are more evenly balanced. A solid, well

Pros
  • Really nice! One of my fav knifes in the kitchen!
Cons
  • The G10 handle might not provide a firm grip with wet or greasy hands

Arrived early and looks great

I got this as a housewarming gift for my brother and it looks way better than I thought it would and it also arrived two days earlier than I thought it would. The handle is really heavy in your hand which for me means less chance of an accident. The blade is thing and super super sharp but my favorite part is the design on the blade and how beautiful the little etching of waves are. It also comes packaged beautifully with instructions for keeping it in the best shape.

Pros
  • Razor Sharp Blade
Cons
  • The knife might not be dishwasher safe, requiring hand washing and care after each use

You get what you pay for.

This is a really sharp knife out of the box. I have some concerns for the future though. The damascus is fake and the overall steel quality is very poor.Pros:- Nice Handle Easy Grip-Light WeightCons:-Blade itself is a bit flimsy and fairly thin-The blade does not feel or look like real damascus.-A bit too light, does not feel durable.-Very poor quality blade and lasted all of 6 months

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • The unique pattern on the blade might make it difficult to sharpen properly

Single piece of steel

For the price this is an awesome knife. It's a bit on the weighted side however it is still easy to use, plus it's got a great look.

Pros
  • Premium 8.5 inch Chef Knife
Cons
  • The value of the knife might not meet everyone's expectations, compared to other options on the market

Offers superb Japanese quality

This $80 blade is made in Japan and is excellent quality. It might be a bit expensive for a moderately-sized knife, but it will last you many years, especially if you are able to sharpen it regularly. I hope the photos are helpful at giving you an idea of its size. I love it.

Pros
  • IT WORKS QUITE WELL. I HAVE BEING USING IT FOR SOME TIME AND CONTINUES TO DO A GOOD JOB
Cons
  • The ergonomic handle might not be comfortable for left-handed individuals

The handle is solid with a perfect weight to it. I can dice with a good rocking motion effortlessly. It's very sharp. I use it for prep and for serving. Makes a super gift.

This is a very beautiful knife. It made a great gift for my friend who loves cooking. He loves it. Good package too. Very satisfied.

Cons
  • The intricate design might limit the use of the knife for specialized cuts or tasks

Have you heard of Damascus steel?

I hadn't so I had to do some research. Technically, Damascus steel (which was originated Syria) is not available any longer. Modern Damascus steel has been able to achieve a comparable strength and sharpness, and it has retained the attractive patterns, but most experts agree that there is likely a difference between ancient and modern Damascus steel. This is due to the difference in availability of materials and the fact that smiths must make their best guess in terms of the process…

Cons
  • The unique design might make it difficult to replace the knife if lost or stolen
