I've had this grill for about 6 years, I use it at least once a week and I really needed to replace the ash removal system. The instructions for installing and removing the ash catcher say you need a flathead screwdriver, but you may need additional tools depending on how rusty the part is. I used WD40 to loosen the old parts and a hammer to try and turn the knob as the screwdriver wasn't enough. I have attached photos so you can get an idea.

The old man won't go away without a fight.

Quality product. I warn you that (as in my case) my old one won't work. The bolt seized and broke when trying to remove the old part. If your kettle grill is that old (mine is 10 years old and probably 400-500 cooks) it may not be worth repairing. For some reason I felt a strong sentimental value in mine. Working without this part (vent wide open), making it difficult to control airflow. The original teapot has a patina reminiscent of past BBQs, but the inside looks brand new!

Very easy to install with a simple

Very easy to install with the simple instructions provided. It was an excellent replacement for my old cleaning kit. The old one was badly rusted and required a quick cut with a hacksaw to get rid of. I took the opportunity to clean the teapot and was very surprised to see that the enamel and teapot were in perfect condition under all the charred crust that had formed over the past 11 years of use. After cleaning, the new cleaning set is used simply and easily. The installation itself took…

So guys and gals, here's the story!

Short and sweet! I got married in June '86. They count, but more importantly, we received a 22 1/2" Weber teapot as a wedding gift, the best ever! Still presentable to this day while cooking some of the most delicious food this side of Peko! Durable, yes!and able to grow with your skills no matter how masterful your experience level becomes!By the way it fits perfectly and requires no installation if you have an angle grinder or similar tool. All those years.?just cut it off and nothing You'll…

Saved My Grill - Outdoor Cooking Tools & Accessories

My grill is so old the original blades were held on with a nut and bolt. By the time the blades wear out, the nut and bolt have become hopelessly fused. I had to buy a special tool to sand it down. I replaced the old blades with these and replaced the cooking grate with one that has hinged sections that make adding charcoal easy. I've found that I can turn an old grate upside down and lay this on top with the wires crossed so I can cook small items that used to fall through. Initially there was

Typical for all Weber products.

High quality materials. Easy installation and removal of the old wearing part. A pair of pliers is the only tool needed. Like all Weber manuals, the instructions are self-explanatory, fully illustrated and designed to be understandable and comprehensible for everyone. In typical Weber fashion, all parts appear to be interchangeable so their charcoal kettle grills could theoretically last a lifetime. I've had a pair of large 22 1/2" Weber kettles for over a decade and have been very happy with…

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Your mileage may change when you install this replacement, not the fault of the product but the condition of your current one. Mine was very badly rusted and after watching a few YouTube videos I saw someone take it with a hammer to knock it out. Too bad I didn't see it because I felt I had to. I did a few wiggles and bent the bottom of my grill slightly, which I wasn't able to fully reseat, but was enough to get a new one installed. What I had to do was take the hammer's claw and use it to…

Perfect for Weber BBQ 22 " 40 year old

I recently had to pull out my 1981 22" Weber charcoal grill (model #71001?), clean it and fix it for use. Luckily I found the porcelain enamel underneath, anything that had been burned from the soot and grease on the kettle and lid remained unharmed (hooray!), however the lower blades of the one-touch cleaning system were so rusted that it was unlikely that they could burn coals inside the boiler, so I ordered this replacement kit. I was happy to see that all the necessary parts were included…

Expensive but works

This works when you need to replace the One Touch blades for a 22 inch Weber Kettle Grill. My old blades were warped so they let a lot of air down and didn't fit fully onto the kettle, making temperature control difficult. This was a simple install, but there are a few things you need to be aware of.1. Removing old parts can be painful depending on how old or rusty they are. There are no words in the instructions just pictures and this shows that you can remove the old part with a screwdriver…
