Things You Need to Know

The instructions say you will use the existing holes in the truck. We had an early 1997 long cab F150 that didn't have the factory holes, we had to drill them ourselves. The screws they give you are too short to work. You don't have enough threads going through the mounting bracket and base plate. I had to buy new screws. Other than that, it was pretty direct.

Pros
  • Slot molding is recommended to cover the space between molded running boards and body panels
Cons
  • I will add later

Works great: Replacement parts

Installed on a 2002 F150 Supercrew. The instructions were fine. Let me know which mount goes where. Gives you a lot of nuts and bolts to make it work. Although a few more jam nuts could be used. I had to drill a few holes. The bracket did not match holes other than the front bracket. I drilled holes in the bracket to fit instead of drilling holes in the truck. The 4" Nerf Steps I already got from Rough Country are bolted on. A good universal set of side step brackets.

Pros
  • Includes required hardware kits
Cons
  • Not sure

Worst kit I have ever used

I installed a pair of Westin tubes almost 10 years ago. After they rusted I got an aluminum post and this mounting kit. Possibly the worst guide I've ever seen. Seriously how difficult it is to write a decent guide. I could take 10 minutes and write a better guide. After you finish a page you will understand. The worst violation is that the braces are not designed to fit properly. The bracket bends the bottom edge of the sheet metal as you tighten the screws. It should have been a 90 degree…

Pros
  • Helps install a molded footboard or sure grip footplate
Cons
  • Some cons
