I only use white side bits and this is a premium spiral bit that can last quite a while. I carve wood signs and rely on Whiteside bits for a clean cut, razor sharp precision and long life. Without a doubt my first choice!
I have used Whiteside cutters on many projects; and while this brand is not the only brand of cutter I use, this is a quality product. This particular product did a great job of cutting a hole in 1/2 inch thick Baltic Birch leaving clean, straight edges. (no break)
I have a homemade CNC router. Many times I've found that I need a good quality 1/8" spiral chisel with a vertical cutting edge. This beat fits perfectly and won't send me to the bank for a loan! The precision is spot on, cuts through hard wood with ease and while keeping a sharp edge I would highly recommend this one!
I use these bits for professional inlay work. Carbide is delicate due to the small diameter of the blade. Work slowly and make multiple passes to reach the final depth of cut. If you push the blade too hard and too fast it can snap, but that's the nature of carbide.
I really can't recommend these bits. The first ones I ordered "honestly" worked. The cut was a bit rough but the two I bought this time didn't last at all. I cut the jigsaw pieces out of 1/4" thick Baltic birch plywood. I usually get 5 to 6 large velociraptors from a bit. Halfway through the first I had to kick out a new beat. The cut is so bad I left the pieces that I cut can't use - waste of material.I think you get what you pay for! These cheap end mills aren't even worth the hassle.
