Good combination of 2 different sets

Need Whitworth heads for older Brit bikes. This pair of sets (Laser Tools #3474 - EAN 5018341034740 - standard depth heads and Toolzone SS019 - EAN5055143917185 - deep heads) meets my needs for occasional use. Both appear to have been sourced from British instrument dealers - probably made in Asia. The fit and finish seems pretty good considering the low price.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Like women, skirting boards cannot be too thin or too pretty.

These are the ONLY sockets that easily fit all English size nuts and bolts on the Classic British Iron. Especially the nuts that are held in A65 gearboxes. The top especially. you know who you are The only way to improve them is to reduce the use of shiny and smooth chrome. Greasy hands are a little uncomfortable to hold. Who uses sockets with clean hands? A good thing.

Pros
  • 1 year free trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Flat jacks are good, deep jacks are not so good

I bought this kit to work on my UK motorcycle project. The overall quality is good. I have no problem with flat sockets. They are all the right size and fit well. The problem I have is that the 2 deep sockets are the wrong size. Both are too small for their size. I tried several times using them on different nuts and bolts but they just didn't fit. I think this is an indication of lack of quality control. My suggestion: buy separate shallow and deep sets and don't waste your money on those deep

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

Works well and all sizes you'll likely need.

These sockets are of good quality and work well. There are no issues to report. Personally I would have preferred 6 point sockets but options are very limited with Whitworth tools so I am happy with this purchase. A very nice kit covering all the dimensions needed for vintage British cars. You might not think you need them for your 60's or 50's UK car with SAE nuts and bolts, but many aftermarket suppliers continued to use Whitworth well into the 1960's - like SU carburettors, Tecalemit oil…

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Almost never

Oh those crazy British standards.

Restoring vintage British bikes and cars. The British have had so many different standards for threaded fasteners over the years. The most common are BSW or British Standard Whitworth, which these sockets will work with. If you are working on these older vehicles you will need these bushings or risk stripping the hex nuts or BSW bolts. The quality of these kits seems good, although I haven't had a chance to use either socket on a really stubborn mount to test how strong these sockets are. If I…
