Great replacement if your old pole is too short

Bought used 12 year old motorhome. Water seeped around the roof block and the roof was soft. I cut some softwood and put a small piece of 1/2" thick treated plywood on top. When the roof got a little taller, the old pole was too short. It was just what I needed as the stem is a bit longer than with most campers. need. Cut to size and works great! Cheap renovation, couldn't be happier.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Freshen up your antenna

I need to replace my roof antenna drive shaft as it has been cleaned. This is exactly the part you need. I also bought a new crank to give it a few more years of trouble free service. There are many YouTube videos on replacing a driveshaft worth watching to make the replacement easier. Please note that you will need to measure the old stock and trim the new one for a correct fit.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Take extra care when installing this part as a metal to plastic joint

Be very careful when cutting this product to length or it will be short. It is easier to cut the length, install and check the length, and remove and adjust the length if necessary. Adding 1/4 may not be enough for all setups due to the shaft slipping up through the worm gear and being too short as it was in my setup. Might have to buy another one.

Easy installation solved the leaky roof.

Replaced a 7 year old part with this one. It turns out that Winegard recommends lubricating the gearbox (and the sealing washer attached to it) with silicone spray every six months. who knew However, the original leaked water into the van. The replacement part has a cut shank, so prepare a hacksaw. The hardest part of this setup was getting me onto the roof of my setup. While you're there, check your antenna cable connections for leaks and weather damage. Once that's done, it's probably worth…

Perfect replacement but add this note to the installation process.

Worked great to replace my old one which was rounded on the end of the handle. My biggest installation tip for folks is to put some lube on the bearing surfaces above and below the helical gear. This makes a big difference in the effort required to rotate the antenna up and down. The included assembly instructions don't mention this, just spray with silicone spray. I did this and reassembled it as directed but it was still tight so I disassembled everything again and applied a small amount of…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Crumpled

All I can say is that it was a perfect match for my existing antenna worm gear and was part of a repair I carried out. I also installed a corresponding lifting mechanism for this purpose. The price was ok. Regardless of what this says about the kit, keep in mind that you'll likely need the proper lifting mechanism to properly address your concerns. I wish they were aluminum or something stronger, but maybe they are designed to break before anything else breaks in case something gets caught on…
