But great weight, good blade

A knock off of the Lie Neilson, or so it appears. But great weight, good blade. Good price. What is not to like? That's my feedback.

Pros
  • Adjustable throat opening
Cons
  • The tool's construction may not be as durable as other block planes on the market

Don’t buy it ! on my review.

The blade is not Square with the bottom of the plane , and adjustments don’t allow enough room to make it square ,I’m going to return this item

Pros
  • great plane for beginners to learn on, minimal work needed out of the box and works very well.
Cons
  • The Woodstock D3831 Adjustable Block Plane is relatively heavy and may cause fatigue during extended use

Great overall value.

This is actually a pretty nice tool. It comes covered in thick layer of grease, needed a bit more lapping than a Lie Nielsen, and the brass cap begged for a little polishing, but once it was all tuned up, it worked great. The blade seems to be quality steel and you can sort of see where the tempered cutting steel has been laminated to the rest of the softer steel blade body. Once I honed it and set the mouth as narrow as possible, I took clean little shavings off end grain with zero tear out…

Pros
  • Plane blade measures 1-3/8-Inch wide
Cons
  • The blade may rust easily if not properly maintained or stored

Rrrrrr. . . in my review

I'm not really qualified to review this due to being a novice and all, hence the 4 stars. Why, O Why! do all makers of blades that are supposed to be flat on the back surface curve them AWAY from the back so as to make it impossible to flatten? I fruitlessly worked the back of the blade for several hours on the diamond stone and can't seem to get rid of the curve in the blade. I then moved to the belt sander and did more harm than good. I'm getting ready to just buy a new blade.I think when…

Pros
  • 6-Inch Block Plane is fully adjustable
Cons
  • The blade may become misaligned over time, leading to imprecise cuts and reduced performance

Excellent Tool - my new review

As a professional finish carpenter, it is hard to impress me with a plane other than the Stanley low angle I have been using for 40 years. This plane is a beauty in appearance and function.I would buy it again in a heartbeat, and would have bought it 40 years ago if they were available.

Pros
  • The Woodstock D3831 Adjustable Block Plane is a highly precise woodworking tool that offers unparalleled precision and accuracy
Cons
  • The tool's design may not be ergonomic, leading to discomfort or injury during extended use

Awesome plane, but you must sharpen it

The plane is awesome but out of the box it's NOT sharp. You need to sharpen before use. The adjustments are precise and easy even for a beginner like me. Highly recommend.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The Woodstock D3831 Adjustable Block Plane may not be suitable for beginners or those new to carpentry

Not what I expected for the money

Wish I had bought a veritas. Cheaply made adjusting mechanism. Good weight and feel. I needed one quick for a project. That's my review!

Pros
  • Heavy. Quality.
Cons
  • Venia la pintura saltada, las uniones y los detalles, muy costoso para lo que compre

Checked foe square Ness all good flat sole .very pleased.

Clean it up .get rid of a the oil .touch up the blade and all set to go .nice weight .feels solid in the had.nice to use.great little plane use it alot.love it.

Pros
  • The adjustable depth control allows you to easily adjust the cutting depth of the blade, making it easy to achieve the perfect level of precision for any task
Cons
  • The plane may be difficult to use with one hand, requiring the use of both for optimal control

Solid plane! good for me

Pretty solid! The sole is very close to flat. Only need 10-15 minutes of work to flatten it, the blade only needs few lap on my whetstone, then it's all set. The only flaw is amazon's shipping method. They put it on envelope. All things fly all over in the envelope. The box is completely destroyed. The product is self is great!

Pros
  • This block plane is ergonomically designed for maximum comfort and ease of use, making it ideal for even the most demanding woodworking projects
Cons
  • The blade may become clogged with debris, leading to reduced cutting performance

A pretty good buy - my new review

This is an Indian knock off of Lie Nielsen's 60 1/2 block plane. It's actually not a bad plane. It is quite heavy for a plane this size due to the bronze cap iron. The soul on mine needed some work and the blade has considerable tool marks. The blade will eventually be replaced with one from Lee Valley. Other than that, the machining was generally good and it functioned smoothly.

Pros
  • The Woodstock D3831 is highly versatile and can be used on a wide range of different materials, making it a valuable addition to any woodworking kit
Cons
  • The blade may be difficult to remove for cleaning or sharpening

Good Plane for what it cost

Nicely made, heavier than expected, easy to adjust. Perfect for shaving down door edges. Blade was fairly sharp and just about usable out of the box.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • The adjustment mechanism may be too stiff for some users, making it challenging to make fine-tuned adjustments

Good for price for my opinion

It works great, especially for the money. I had to flatten the sole and sharpen the blade but it works great now That's my feedback.

Pros
  • The blade is easy to swap out and replace with different sizes, allowing you to customize the tool to fit your needs
Cons
  • The product's lack of additional features or accessories may make it less attractive for customers seeking a comprehensive tool kit

Well worth the money.

This plane replaces a Stanley I recently bought. The Stanley was not too expensive, but even at the low price it was overpriced. Nothing was flat, true or suggested any quality control was observed. The Woodstock on the other hand was more expensive, but worth it. Everything the Stanley lacked, the Woodstock had in spades. Nicely finished, true, flat, and comfortable in the hand. No lapping required. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Whether you're an amateur hobbyist or a professional carpenter, this block plane is the perfect tool for achieving precision results every time
Cons
  • The Woodstock D3831 Adjustable Block Plane may not come with clear instructions or user guidance

I just got this to replace my older Stanley.I like the brass tension knob and weight but the cast body that holds the blade isn't perpendicular to the side walls, it's very noticeable.causing the blade to hit your material at an angle. There is also not enough room in the design to angle the blade to accommodate for that issue so you are left filing around the mouth to try and fix it.

Pros
  • Crafted from high-quality materials, the Woodstock D3831 is built to last, ensuring that you can rely on it for years to come
Cons
  • The product may not be widely available in brick-and-mortar stores, making it difficult to try before buying

great for the price

This product had no reviews when I purchased. It is also my first block plane. Keeping that in mind I do own a couple of planes and work with them regularly. A couple of things that I new to look for. A flat sole, check. Cracks anywhere on the body, none to be found. A sharp knife, so so and a fully functional unit (all pieces doing what they are supposed to), check.I was surprised about the flatness of the sole I thought for sure I would be working this for quite some time. The blade need work

Pros
  • Hand Tools
Cons
  • The plane's balanced design may make it difficult to use for those with smaller hands or weaker grip strength

A step above the cheap hardware store planes.

Some people are quick to compare this plane to the high-end planes made by Veritas or Lie-Nielsen. This block plane is not made nearly as well as those, but it also costs only about half as much. If you're willing to put in the work to polish it, this gem will shine.First, the good. This plane is solid and heavy. They were generous with the iron and bronze when making these planes and that translates into good momentum and stability. The overall shape is comfortable in the hand. The adjusters…

Pros
  • The adjustable blade makes it possible to achieve a variety of different cuts and angles, making this block plane an incredibly versatile and flexible tool that can handle any challenge you throw its way
Cons
  • The Woodstock D3831 Adjustable Block Plane may not be a suitable choice for professional carpenters or those requiring more advanced features
