Scrap from China

This thing didn't last two months on my screen door. Constantly stuck and I had to replace it, as soon as it was American made I needed to know this time that everything from China is junk and we Americans are overly reliant on China and this needs to stop!

Pros
  • Fits 1" to 1-1/4" doors
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Not as shown

I bought one from Home Depot and one from Revain. A Revain slips on a button like the other one I bought, it was different and more difficult to install. There is no bottom screw to hold it. You lift it to open the door instead of pushing a button. Will be returning to Home Depot to buy more!

Pros
  • For wood or metal swing doors
Cons
  • There are new competitors

May need to be replaced after 2-3 years

I bought this for a quick fix when the old latch on the door was about to break. (I'm guessing the latch was a spare too.) Installation was a little tricky, as we both had to properly secure the wobbly parts before we could screw the handles into place. I had to reposition the striker plate by drilling new holes in the frame and had to use both spacers that came with the kit to secure the door latch. It works well now but is a little cheaply made and will likely need to be replaced in a few…

  • For wooden or metal swing doors

Made in China. Spring.

Replaces an exact model that lasted 20 years so I didn't have to change the mesh door holes. They rusted and disappeared. Installed replacement with sprayed wax lube added inside for longer life this time. The instruction to change the spindle length before assembly is wrong: had to be adjusted manually. Otherwise the same Chinese device of planned obsolescence that was installed 20 years ago. The 20 year old Wright door closer (9 inch pipe) would not adjust properly and also had to be…

Pros
  • Includes two sizes of latch and washers to adjust the latch
Cons
  • Transparency

Works great but installation isn't great

Installation could be a bit easier. The metal spindle is designed to fit different door sizes, and smaller doors like mine require the tab to be broken off. This tongue was not cut deep enough and it was almost impossible to break it to shorten the spindle. It took all my son's strength to cut it with wire cutters. Breaking it off with two pliers doesn't work because I had to cut off quite a bit (about 1/4 inch) and instead just had to bend the tip. After cutting the spindle it wasn't that…

Pros
  • For wood or metal hinged doors

  • Difficult to tell
