Do not buy this item. It's not worth the time or effort to even order it.

Don't waste your time or money. First you need Sanson's fingers to simply press the button to release the reel. Second, they show a picture of a really good generator, but when it arrives it's a whole other topic, useless to say the least! Needless to say, it doesn't work, it won't work. The only good thing about this purchase is that it can be returned and get your money back. Don't waste money. I guess the manufacturer has the impression that the Americans are stupid and we buy junk from…

The plastic version of the alternator is no longer metal

I received the alternator with a plastic housing instead of the metal housing shown in the Revain picture. Please note that I previously purchased this item (for a different bike) and received a metal case alternator. In any case, metal was much better in strength, made no noise, and added very little resistance; However, the plastic version was the complete opposite. Most importantly, the plastic encased alternator shaft came out after a mile of my ride and the headlight seemed to have a lot…

Bought two - one lasted about three miles

Was thrilled to know they were still around as I remember wearing them as a kid. I originally bought these for my kid for his science fair project and installed them as directed. The generator seemed solid out of the box, but the mounting hardware wasn't as solid as I had hoped. I bought two units in case one set might fail. I installed the unit on the exercise bike and soon after about two or three miles the generator started leaking oil and overheating. I installed the second block and it…

Not the quality I had.

I don't know what brand I had before but this one doesn't suit me. I had 2, one for me and one for a friend and she wore hers off. I was afraid that it would rub my tire too much, but the handle at the end of the moving alternator actually has a groove worn from the many uses, it's not the quality I had before (hence the removal of the star) . It has lasted many years and never worn out, I just couldn't find it anymore. It was only a year before they started dying. I've been trying to figure…

Inexpensive but useful: Headlight/Taillight Combo

I've driven under a 3 watt bulb before, so I have an idea of what to check. Nothing special here so far, except that the mounting bracket is designed for a caliper and offers limited mounting options. I can say that the headlight is cheaply constructed, but it does the job. However, this becomes a do-it-yourself LED project. The rear light is very cheap because it is a retractable lamp holder with a cable attached to the side. It stopped working on a trip due to such a cheap design, although I…
