🀄 American Mahjong Games by Yellow Mountain Imports Review

I was amazed at the price of this set and hesitated to buy it - figured there MUST be something wrong with it. But it's great!

I love the design and feel of the tile and trays. One of the tile shelves arrived broken. I didn't want to send it back so I sealed it with tape.

Black tiles and art deco design on the back make this set unique. The engraved images are easy to read and contrast well with the black background. The suitcase is well organized and durable.

I was very happy when I received this set. The engraved colors are very bold and stand out against the black tiles. The pivoting lever on the stands is very handy during gameplay. The carrying case is made of comfortable material and makes it easy to pack and unpack the set while keeping the individual parts intact. I definitely recommend this set!

Overall I like this mahjong set. I love the art deco design and the great contrast between the icons and the black background. I would buy it again. However, I was a bit disappointed that the set didn't come with scoring rods, a holder for the round chips that usually attach to the end of the rack, and no covers for the two long tile trays. . These aren't deal breakers but I wish they were included.

Typical Mah Jongg tiles have a light background and darker images and prints. The tiles in this set with fluorescent image/print colors on a black background present a visual challenge that requires a process of getting used to recognizing the tiles. I specifically ordered them for their uniqueness. These tiles may be unattractive as a single set or as a set primarily to new players or the visually impaired.

I bought this for my birthday and contacted Revain as I thought the blank tiles were missing. They sent a replacement kit but again without blanks. I contacted the Yellow Mountain company and found the tiles were in a zipped pocket in my bag and I didn't realize it. Needless to say I'm confused and feeling quite stupid, although I'm very glad I have empty tiles and can now play with this very nice and unusual Mah Jongg set.

We returned this item because the color was difficult to see against the black background, especially if you are elderly and/or wear glasses. I wear contact lenses and found that the graphics were a bit difficult to see under room lighting. Also, the listing says you received 166 tiles but when we received the item we only received 160 tiles. The pictures of the tiles show additional tiles as spare parts, but these were not included in the set. Even the photo shows extra tiles and we got four…
