Great welder no instructions

This is a great little machine, a dream come true for those used to AC 'buzzing boxes' and small and light weight. Just don't wait for instructions, you'll have to find out for yourself as what little is written there is written in illegible Chinglish. See fork warning. Need to put off? Should I add onion? Also note that the 220V plug is a standard 50Amp welder plug that cannot be connected to a generator or dryer socket without an expensive adapter.

Good little welder, best in welding systems

I got this as a welder to use outside the workshop. It works so well that I'm going to the welder now. Amplifier indicators are off, but I don't care. I know how to tune amps because they weld. I've used it on 110 and 220 volts and have seen very little difference in performance. I ran it off a small generator and it works great when the generator takes the load. I used a 1/8 7018 rod on a 1/2" plate. Got a good weld. You need a really dry rod or it doesn't hit very well, but I can handle that.

Pros
  • Simple design
Cons
  • A few little things

Great product best welding system

Bought this after reading several reviews on this and other products. And I couldn't be happier with my choice! The light weight and small size make it a lot easier to set up, especially considering it's a 110 and 220 volt power supply. Manual both discussed. I wanted to make sure I had the right level of performance. Once I set it up, it works amazing! Personally, I probably won't weld anything larger than 1/4" so this is perfect for me.

Just great for the money

To get rid of the cliches, I wasn't expecting much. I have been welding for almost 50 years and for the last 10 or so years I have mainly used MIG and TIG. There are times when I NEED an arc welder for certain jobs because I need to be fast and versatile. I am more than impressed with this device, although on March 16th I limited it to lower amperage applications and cold rolled steel, pipe, plate etc in my shop. After some experimentation with different bars including 6010, 6011, 6013, 7014…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Some kind of sketch by a certified welder (Must Read)

I am a full time welder and am looking for a small welder for small houses and small repairs. I have several certificates for stick welding, so I am very familiar with SMAW welding. I liked the idea that it could run on 220v, but so far I've only had 120v at home. This machine had problems with the 6010. Running the 6010 was just as nervous as I was asking my love in high school got lol I was very disappointed reading other reviews that this machine can run 6010 (3/32). On the 6011 (3/32) it…

Insufficient power, wrong ammeter

(only for 220V) Having used many different welding machines, I can definitely say that I need to use 20-50% more amps to get the same result as with more powerful and traditional welders. I seriously doubt this thing will work up to 205 amps maybe 150. He hates 6010 rods especially 3/32 and 1/8. I have to practically bury the rod in the metal to even contain the arc you're pulling back and it's gone, and at an additional 30+ amps on top of what you would normally use. Not recommended for…

Pros
  • Automatic hot start: increases current during start to ensure easy, fast and reliable arc start
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good inexpensive welder

Always wanted to learn to weld and finding someone to do welding repairs is becoming increasingly difficult as most welders retire. So I bought this model because I liked that it could run at 240 or 120. I used a 240v circuit with a 30 amp switch. I bought some coupons and practiced with the bead and then proceeded to connecting with the metal. Using the E6013 3/32 electrodes at 70 A, the arc ignited quickly and evenly; 70 amps was a bit high so I reduced it to 65 and the beads were really…

Pros
  • Safety: automatic compensation of voltage fluctuations, over current protection, overload protection, temperature control

Great little welder

I was very pleasantly surprised by several aspects of this welder: 1. It was much smaller than I expected, about half the size and weight of what I thought it would be; 2. The performance of such a small welder is much greater than I expected. First using a 3/32 6013 rod and then switching to 7014 it welded the broken seams on my lawnmower perfectly and made a clean seam after adjusting the handle. (I use it connected to 220V.) 3. I started at 150 on the scales but quickly burned a cracked 3/32

Pros
  • Portable: Compact design, weighs just under 10lbs (4.5kg), allowing you to work smarter not harder by using the welder at work, easier to carry and store.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
