Good enough 1/4 20 bits

I've tried 4 screws from different manufacturers and they all fit, although 2 of them are a bit loose. If you want precision, this isn't it. If you need parts that are easy to assemble/disassemble, if a little play is allowed, they will work. I'm not saying "sloppy," I'm talking a little loose. I use things, jigs and basic woodworking items, they're great for that. Fairly easy to install with a hand tool, but they always work so much better when driven in with a cut 1/4-20 screw that goes into…

Excellent thread inserts are always my first choice.

Excellent thread inserts. I didn't know there were shorter ones until I ordered more long ones, so I ordered 50 of each. This is my go-to choice for 1/4-20 threaded inserts. With brass there is sometimes an issue with which side of the material you insert them from. With brass, I've always tried to insert it from the opposite side of the material whenever I could. It was never a problem with them. Tip: The hexadecimal indicator for them is indicator #6. A bit strange for 1/4-20. 6 is stuck…

Good quality threaded inserts - recommended

(11/27/16) I bought these for a project in the last few days and am very happy with them. I was a little wary at first because previous reviewers said the threads were very bad, but I really needed them now and 50 cents apiece at my local Anawalt Lumber wasn't an option. As soon as Prime delivered them, I immediately inspected them and put a quarter inch screw through EVERY screw to find faults. Installing the defective ones and then having to dismantle the project again at a later date was not

Ouch! Goodbye $800 cooker.

I bought 5/16-18 x .789" inserts and practiced with about 30 of them using them on various projects. I followed the directions, everything worked great. I bolted the steel and aluminum frame to the top bench, as well as a massive bench vise. I bought these 1/4-20 x .5" for legs on a table with a live edge. instructions followed. I didn't have a 9mm (.354") drill bit, so I used an S (.348"). It should have been good and in my favor. Unfortunately, everything was too big and the inserts simply…

Product Inconsistency Requires Additional Time

This Insert has manufacturing inconsistencies that will cause you to spend significant additional time troubleshooting these issues. Since the size of this bit is 1/4-20, one would expect a screw of this size to be easily driven, but this is not the case. Of the 100 pieces I used, 30 would not accept a 1/4-20 screw no matter how hard I tried. What I had to do to solve this problem was run a 1/4-20 tap through the socket on both ends to remove the casting residue that was blocking the screw. I…
