This heating mat is particularly advantageous as it comes with its own thermostat. The temperature setting depends on the ambient temperature and not on the absolute temperature, so a thermostat in a cage or aquarium is still necessary. The quality seems very good and the 3M adhesive was light and reliable.

It doesn't hold the temperature, rises and bakes your snakes, and if you move the slider of anything a hair's breadth, it sinks down. I will never buy this product again. I was trying to save a few bucks and ended up running out and buying an expensive thermostat and heating pad where I can set and leave the temperature. If you have expensive snakes like me, do not use this product.

I'm not sure if I received a defective unit, but I'm returning mine. It comes rolled in a box. When I plugged it into multiple outlets, it barely got warm. since it is almost comfortably warm (70 degrees) but not warm enough to heat its surroundings, which defeats the purpose. (It warms your hands just fine, though!) If you set the temperature with the dial, anything below the maximum doesn't produce any noticeable heat. Very disappointing. I won't get involved. I'm trying a different heater.

Firstly I didn't have to use tape so I can't rate that part of the product. Otherwise it's great. Places it under my 40 gallon reptile tank (for the ball python) under its burrow. I keep the temperature in my apartment at 66 degrees, so you can imagine he's not very happy with his temperature as the heat lamp isn't heating the bottom of the cage enough. I had a Zilla heater mat for my last aquarium which I removed when I bought this as it was old and falling apart. It's wonderful for the price.
