The ZVOX works well in most situations but can require a certain amount of experimentation to get the sound right for each show or movie you watch. This unit did Not work well when playing back TV shows recorded on my cable providers DVR. It cut off 1/2 of all the words spoken. 90% of my TV viewing is of shows I record on my DVR so this unit was useless to me. Unfortunately It was a gift and by the time I found someone who could hook it up for me the short return option had expired. Calling ZVOX's help line was of no help and the person that I spoke to was rude and snarky.

The brand name soundbar we had with our 48" TV never seemed to provide any alternatives in sound and voice quality. My Dad has been struggling to hear the TV for several years. We had tried an earlier version of this five years ago, the AV200, and returned it. Well, as soon as we hit the correct frequency correction his face lit-up - He could understand the dialogue! And he wants the volume lowered!It has worked so well that he cancelled his hearing aid appointment. This is a sound bar for those that have significant difficulty in hearing the dialogue.

The sound clarity is hard to adjust. Each channel needs to be adjusted for sound clarity. It also has a tinny sound no matter what adjustment is made. Another case where you pay for what you get. Unfortunately, the very good Sound bars are expensive.now I know why.

Bought for my father that is hard of hearing and has been through multiple hearing aids and dislikes them. He has been watching TV for years but now he can hear it.

My thank you's to Zvox. The unit I got after a power outage stoped working. I'd had it a little over a month and it really did help me understand the voices a bit more. I emailed customer service, got an almost instant reply and a UPS label to replace it all on the same day. I shipped it out that same day, they got the confirmation and I think the next day they shipped a new one out to me. Great service.

Bought this on the random recommendation of the author Christopher Moore, and I can't be more happy with the choice. The main thing this does is amplify voices over background and normalize them to the volume level. Suuuper good for movies where you have loud explosions in one scene followed by quiet dialog the next - you can set the volume to the level you want and hear everything. The ZVOX 257 is THE best. It was so easy to hook up and the sound is great. For us, we couldn't hear the dialogue for shows. Each show had a buzzing or background music that was so loud that's all you could hear. The ZVOX257 cuts through all that. I was able to turn off Closed Captioning. Worth every penny.

This sound bar does a good job of giving clarity to speech on TV programs. Definitely crisps things up and I’m only using Level One of six levels.

When I ordered the ZVOX I wasn't sure if it could help. My hearing is not what it was years ago. Installation was very easy. The sound options allow plenty of ways to adjust it, did not take long to get the volume and sound set. I can now understand the words that are spoken. It does work better if you are sitting in a straight line with speaker. Lastly the ZVOX is not big but offers big clarity. Thank You!

What a difference! With this sound bar I can hear what is being said. I'm older so my hearing isn't as good as it once was, and combined with the way newer programing seams to "blast" the volume for the sound track, the voices often get left in the dust. Mine was delivered yesterday and I'm convinced already that the AccuVoice technology makes a huge improvement for those with hearing difficulties. AV will also flatten out the over boosted commercial volumes.Many newer flat panel displays leave much to be desired regarding speaker quality, and all low priced TV's would benefit from external audio additions, this device is hands down a winner for improving general TV play all around.I'm buying a second for another room to enhance the viewing…

I am approaching 70 years old and my hearing isn’t what it used to be. I purchased the ZVOX to help pull voices out of the background in movies and television shows. The ZVOX does exactly that I can now sit with my wife and we can both enjoy viewing without me asking "What did they say?”

My wife can hear a paper wrapper crinkling 10 miles away - but she can't hear what the character is saying on the TV that is 10ft in front of her, unless we turn it so loud the neighbors can hear too! This has really helped! Using the Sup 2 setting helps isolate the voices without totally ruining the rest of the sound. Now we rarely have to pause and go back to reply what someone said.

I had to return this product. The sound bar kept shutting itself off-downloaded the instructions and tried disabling a feature that would shut off the sound bar if it didn't detect sound for a period of time, but it didn't help. Also tried syncing remotes and it kept shutting itself off. very disappointed as I have purchased a zyvox sound bar previously, but would definitely not recommend this model.
