Metamask is a crypto wallet which can be used on the web browsers. It is also a browser extension.
Browsers supported by MetaMask are in 3 categories:
1. Firefox
2. Google Chrome, and
3. Chromium based browsers such as; Vivaldi, Brave, Microsoft Edge, SlimBrowser, Torch, Comodo Dragon, to mention but a few.
The wallet store keys for Ether and ERC20 tokens on these web browsers and also let investors browse the Ethereum blockchain from standard browsers.
Points to note:
1. If you want to access your metamask wallet then you have to use Metamask browser extension or else you might lose your money.
2. One thing I’m not comfortable with with metamask is that I can’t store Bitcoins on the wallet.
3. The wallet does not have mobile applications for iOS and Android unless you download the TestFlight app
to use the beta version.
4. The moment you are logged in to your metamask account, hackers can view your private information such as; address, balances, and your transactions which they can use to steal your money
.
I personally feel more comfortable with a multipurpose wallet that I can easily accommodate my bitcoins and ethereum tokens on
