Amazing value on duvets

I've been looking for a woolen blanket to use as a throw to watch TV. Something double. All I saw were $200 models until I found this one. Received yesterday and washed according to instructions. This is a great duvet - heavy and definitely wool (the tag says 80% wool - 20% man made). The perfect color for my space. It has a slight odor (moth repellent?) --- but after a wash it wore off and I will use it as is. My first product review I've ever written, and I buy hundreds of dollars from Revain

Satisfied - good price

Very satisfied with this product - as other reviewers mentioned the smell I washed it twice in warm water and dried it on low before using. I wasn't thrilled at all when I first opened the package - very hard and chewy (it stunk too) but I needed a wool blanket and it was relatively affordable. It came out of the wash very very soft and fluffy (NO SHRINKAGE! I measured.) - I didn't notice any odor - the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was the amount of fluff - just clumps and lumps, in…

The purple duvet is the best among duvets and bedspreads

This duvet is quite warm but I would definitely recommend getting a second duvet if you need it for the coming winter. I was under the impression it was thicker based on the reviews and while it works well I don't think it's particularly thick. This is about the thickness of my fall coat and feels the same as the material (the coat is a wool/poly blend so the other 20% of the blanket could be something similar). I bought purple: it looks like a deep lavender in the pictures, but it's much…

Bought one and then bought a second

Hard to beat the price. This is not a cheap pressed wool blanket. The woven fabric and a small amount of synthetic fibers provide a good, durable base for long-term use, but it's not the same as synthetic fleece in the sense that it breathes naturally. Wool requires a very different approach to cleaning, I prefer to wash in cold water and hang dry to avoid fiber and lint loss. I clean it when it's dirty and only wash it as a last resort. Wool becomes rough and scratchy when the natural lanolin…

Very strong chemical smell, even after 2 long washes.

Good duvet, good price, warm. I even tried adding some Oxyclean powder to the wash, thought it might neutralize it. Apparently the smell is typical of this type of blankets? OK, I didn't know that. To be honest, I also believe that some people are more sensitive to smells than others. If you or a family member are picky about smells, then that will be a factor, at least until they go away. Maybe you just don't plan on using it for a few weeks. The smell is fading a bit and based on other…

Your nose will call you an idiot and your brain will point and laugh.

Two of these were purchased in April 2013. Brand new, they were filled with a strong chemical smell. I could reasonably expect that. So I soaked them in white vinegar as some suggested, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Soaked in baking soda, no noticeable difference either. I washed them many times until the chemical smell seemed to go away a bit. Have used these blankets every winter since 2013. They were taken out yesterday and washed again in the coming cold months. To my…

  • Well built
Cons
  • Appearance

Really pleasantly surprised by this comforter. almost all branches of the armed forces), so I have I naturally opted for the (for me) nostalgic green color, so I associated the texture with happy times. This blanket was actually surprisingly soft for wool, and "scratchy" enough to know it was real. Another property of wool that I remember very well was its warmth, even when wet. I haven't tested whether it stays warm when wet, but I can confirm that it's comfortable when dry. This is the only…
