    Difficult to install, unreliable

    I returned this unit due to failures and because it ended up not working at all. It was difficult to install and required multiple attempts to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, etc. via Windows Device Manager. It couldn't reliably detect the USB bus, so it was probably faulty hardware . I bought a TPLink product as a replacement and it installed and worked in about 2 minutes and was reliable. I wouldn't waste my time with any other BrosTrend product.

    Slow and poor signal quality

    Speeds will of course vary but I have to say I was very disappointed with the range which this device doesn't seem to have. When connecting via a USB 3 port and updating all the firmware, I was only able to get about 200x200 on my gigabit connection. I was within range of my router and it may be more than capable of 400 x 400 considering most of my phones have that around the house.     Poor design

    Two major problems with this product: 1) Installation (to get the driver) requires an internet connection. If the device I'm installing it on had internet, I wouldn't need this Wi-Fi adapter! Consider adding a driver to the device. 2) This thing is huge compared to other USB devices, covering 2 USB slots due to the width of the case. I only have 2 USB ports and now I only have 1 installed so I have to unplug it to plug in something else. Not smart. You can see why people should order additional

    A subtle difference

    The reason I bought (and later returned) this accessory antenna/receiver was because the extended signal I was using was weak. The signal itself comes from a repeater that goes through 3 concrete walls; so I usually deal with a power bar. However, another device in the house is showing 4 to 5 bars and is working properly.
