Snack Frog in Oil Pan Gasket Sets

Kind of like rtv but the rubber gaskets are always minty. Place the RTV on the corners of the disc and align with the pan and allow to dry before installing to the vehicle to align earlier while the pin is in place.

Recommended for all VQ30DE

I replaced the timing chain on my 1996 Infiniti I30 which has the same VQ30DE engine as the A32 Nissan Maxima. This work requires the removal of the lower and upper oil pan. As standard, the VQ30DE has no gasket between the lower and upper oil pan. Fel-Pro manufactures this seal. I used Permatex Gray on both sides of this gasket to ensure no oil leakage.

Pros
  • replacement parts
Cons
  • Obsolete model

To fit my 04 Infiniti G35 coupe. Removing the oil pan was a little tricky as it took longer to remove the stupid old gasket on the leaking oil pan. I just used a razor blade and patience to remove the pad maker. When you're done, make sure the oil pan is clean inside and any remaining gasket fabricators have been removed and you're good to go. I've tightened the bolts to be comfortable, no leaks so far.

Cracked horribly under factory torque. Waste of money

Waste of money. I'm a fan of pre-made shims versus silicone RTV shims, but this shim didn't come with instructions so you had to use the factory manual (in this case a 2000 Nissan Maxima) for torque specs. When tightening the oil pan to factory torque, this gasket literally broke into many pieces and then leaked horribly. (I had to drain the water again, remove the tub, clean it, then replace it with an RTV.) Either a maximum torque indication is required here, or better yet, it must be rated…

Much better than fiddling with RTV

Works great, fits well, all quick and easy. I'm not in favor of using RTV silicon unless that's the only option. This padding is less annoying. It's only a few dollars more than the RTV package you need to build an oil pan. You don't have to worry about letting anything dry before you fill up with oil and go. I couldn't find torque specs for the oil pan on my 2002 Nissan Altima SE 3.5, so I ended up using a 1/4 short ratchet by tightening the bolts from the center and working to the ends in a…
