U.2 connector not SATA

Product probably fantastic but I was looking for an enclosure to upgrade from Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe V-NAND SSD M Key 250GB to Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVMe V - NAND M Key 1TB SSD connects SSD for cloning via SATA. It has a U.2 connector, not SATA. I'm still trying to find an internal M.2 NVMe-V NAND-M dongle for a SATA enclosure. I found a USB solution that saved my day. Very easy to use item and no screws.

I thought it was a SATA interface

I bought these because I thought they had a SATA interface and could replace my old 2.5" SSD with the newer M.2 drive that I have. I simply installed the lenses and then took a closer look at the glasses. Plugs are different. They were not Sata. I looked back at the list and saw U2. I looked at U2 and said "Uh oh I was looking for adapters or cables and it was VERY confusing". So I had to return them. It looks like these connectors are only suitable for large servers or office machines.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Bad impression

With the era of full-featured SSDs fast becoming the norm, this adapter offers owners an M.2 NVMe SSD Bubble gum design to take full advantage of this SSD in a traditional 2.5" drive bay. Even though the SSD will only communicate at SATA II speeds (because it's not connected to a direct PCIe interface), it will still be a very fast little devil and will never add latency to the SATA II interface. This is a very good use for an older M.2 SSD you might have on hand, and it's good to recycle that…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Make your M.2 2280 detachable

I put it in a Syba 2.5" U2 mobile stand with a 3.5 to 5.25 converter. I used a DiLinKer M.2 to U.2 cable to connect to the M.2 slot on my motherboard. We now have an easily removable M2 2280. It's worth noting that the caddy needs SATA power for the M2 to work, this was a bonus for me as I can use the KingWin 6 SATA port power switch to turn it on - or turn it off. Using Y-power cables, I'm going to connect one set of drives to one switch and the other sets to different switches, which makes it

Excellent M.2 to U.2 Adapter

I bought this adapter to install M.2 drives in NVMe drive bays on a Dell workstation. The adapter worked great - I had no problems getting the drive recognized by the firmware or the operating system. As you can see in the attached photo, the adapter makes the full bandwidth of the M.2 drive available (at least for the Intel 256 GB 760p shown in the screenshot). In addition, the adapter is easy to use. No tools are required to disassemble the shell and install the M.2 SSD. Everything fits and…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Faulty

Do you want to boot your old system with M.2 NVMe?

I can finally boot from NVMe M.2 drives on my old workstation. I'm running Windows 10 on a SuperMicro X9DAi Dual Xeon motherboard with no M.2 or U.2 slots. I installed a 16-port Broadcom/LSI 9400-16i controller and two LSI Logic cables P/N 05-50065-00 that support four x4 NVMe drives. I use these awesome tool-less M.2 to U.2 ICY DOCK adapters to install four Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe Series 2TB M.2 PCI-Express 3.0 x4 SSDs. I'm currently testing a SilverStone TP02-M2 heatsink for M.2 SSDs. The…
