I'm about to return this

I came from the Drobo site. This block works well when it works. 5 minutes ago the UI disappeared and only the activity light was blinking with no LCD panel info and couldn't close it properly because the button wasn't responding. The panels were busy, although their individual displays were inaudible. I had to turn off the power and restart. This is the 8th time I've done this in less than a month. I have 4x6TB drives with all my media and the web interface is damn slow at times for a NASโ€ฆ

Good Netgear NV+ update

I purchased this update to replace a Sparc based ReadyNAS NV+ that is a few years old. The old NAS started to have problems, filled up to 6 TB (4x2 TB, RAID) and was slow. It's *much* faster, and I'm running a Plex server directly on the NAS rather than on a separate computer. I also included a 6TB drive, although I believe this unit contains 4 x 8TB drives. The device is far from perfect; The applications that can be installed are mixed: some require ActiveX (Windows) to run and some don'tโ€ฆ

  • Impressive
Cons
  • No performance

This unit has arrived and I have downloaded 40TB of hard drive storage to run it in RAID-10. In the first month everything went great. The device then started emailing me a few times a day to let me know it was shutting down. I opened a support case and a community forum topic. The support case was useless. Community forum members looked at the logs and found that the ethernet port I was using went down. They suggested trying a different port. This solution worked great. A month later the exact

Hardware is fine but software is bad

I've been using mine for three weeks now and still can't get it to work properly. No support from Netgear possible. The problem is the permissions. I get a panel telling me I don't have permission to access. Electronic software documentation doesn't help, and neither does its "community". I really don't know what to recommend. UPDATE: I contacted Revain support and the agent put me in direct contact with a Netgear tech support rep. After about two and a half hours on the phone it finallyโ€ฆ

Good unit seems solid, decent software interface

This NAS was purchased to replace an old 7 year old Buffalo LinkStation for home use. We use it as a central file server to share photos, videos and music between 4 desktops as well as various files that we all need access to. We bought 2 new WD 6TB Red drives, they showed up right away and we set up one as the primary media and the second as a backup volume to run automatic backups of all our PCs. We then pulled a 2TB SATA drive from the enclosure of an old Buffalo NAS along with another 2TBโ€ฆ

  • Annoying
