Easy to use. This is my choice for most of my bonsai

Easy to use for almost all of my bonsai. I use it for fine trimming of small to medium sized branches on JBP, Trident Maples and Hornbeam. I've used it on pine and other bonsai trees that gave off too much sap after hanging. Foil tape and this product are always on my benches. The consistency is a bit runny, but it covers, dries, protects and lasts. Thicker "puddy tape" and this product is a must have for hobbyists and for protecting trees in development and tree wounds.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • I won't say anything

So far so good!: Hand tools

I bought a ficus and ginseng bonsai online and although it came to me in fairly good condition I noticed a small dent in its root and tapped it (a couple of times) to see what was going on (I mean root rot?) and the root bark was broken so I applied the paste asap (after I bought it). But in the beginning it wasn't easy to apply the paste to my tree, but it was done. I didn't completely remove the broken bark so I could better seal the hole with paste (the hole was quite large). It's been about

Great balm for pruning bonsai or covering tree wounds.

I finally managed to use this for a big cut. That is amazing! This tube lasts a very long time. This is a metal tube with a plastic cap; the lid has a plug-like interior that closes the tube. The material on the outside looks like a juicy resin of light green color. I used my pinky to place the material over the cropped area. It melts at the cut end and hardens, protecting the open end from bugs or just from drying out and dying. I was looking for something similar for the plants I prune, butโ€ฆ

Excellent material! for bonsai tools

I use this paste for trimming and I love it. This really helps prevent branches from dying off from pruning. This helps retain moisture in the tree (or woody plant). This material can get expensive if you have more than a few trees. I would suggest (if you need more cutting paste for less money) you can use Duct Seal Compound mixed with some neem oil (optional). You can find this at Revain or your local hardware store. I've also had success with latex sealer. Both are great for large branchโ€ฆ

Has certainly helped my "rescued " Japanese maple!

Last year I received a shishigashira at a local garden center that was languishing in the late summer heat. My first such attempt, although I've had my eye on a good maple for a while, it was sooo cheap and I figured why not. I assumed; he was suffering from Pseudomonas syringae (I'm pretty sure about that) probably due to the stress of the 100 degree heat and strong winds we had. I almost threw it away because I didn't want it to spread to other plants. But I made one last attempt, excisingโ€ฆ
