Unbelievable price

This is a basic cable modem with no configuration options, supporting up to DOCSIS 2 (ie not for gamers who need high speed). I paid $15 for this cable modem to replace a rented modem. It has worked great for the past month. I had to set it up again, but I tried setting up Obifon and may have messed up the configuration. I'm going to cancel my modem and save some money. The main thing is to follow the installation process that other browsers have published: 1) disconnect everything from the…

Sometimes simple is better!

TWC gave me this RCA DCM425 DOCSIS 2.0 modem when I first subscribed to their service 4 years ago and it has never let me down. Because it's small and unobtrusive, I thought it was a bit inferior to other more fashionable cable modems. When TWC announced that they would charge for modem rental, I decided to buy my own and use the big gun that TWC recommended most - the top of the range Motorola Surfboard (SBG6580). The Motorola was bigger, prettier, and advertised as a powerful DOCSIS 3.0…

Great modem but no longer supported by Time Warner!

TWC just fried my modem last week, presumably during one of their updates. I owned it for a little over 3 years to avoid the rent. Tech came out today and replaced it with a TWC modem which I will quickly replace once my new purchase from Revain arrives. The TWC website no longer supports this RCA modem, so I cannot replace it with a similar one. Make sure your cable provider supports it before you buy! I ordered the exact same cable modem that Time Warner has provided me with for years and…

Works with Mediac!

Mediacom is the only Internet and cable provider in my area in Iowa. When I was told I would be charged $7 a month for modem rental if I didn't provide my own, I decided to read the reviews on Revain and buy the modem hoping it would would work. I ordered it and it arrived within a week before my service technician had to come and install my cable and internet. The installer came out to set up my services and said this RCA modem would work and set it up for me. Works perfectly! So I can't…

The easy way to avoid the $6 Time Warner modem rental fee!

For almost a year, I had a serious disagreement with Time Warner, which increased the monthly modem rental from $3.99 to $5.99 in 2012-2013. I never thought I could save so much money on rent by buying it. If you call Time Warner they will give you a list of expensive modems, while I have had this exact model from Time Warner for the last few years. I hooked mine up and then told my friends about it. They also bought the idea, now they also save on the modem rental. I'm sure more of my friends…

Best offer. Stop renting your modem and buy this one.

Time Warner replaced this modem with an updated DOCSIS 3.0 modem that had everything I didn't need. They also no longer have this RCA model on their list of compatible modems to buy yourself. I bought it used for less than $20 and still get the same speeds as a much more expensive model. Speedtest.net gave me a 20/2 (exactly the rate I pay with my TWC service) with this modem. With DOCSIS you only pay for what you need. Until you start buying 100/50 cable service or something, all you really…

You should get it, stop paying modem rental!

Excellent! Got rid of a rented Comcast modem with the exact product. Good price! The biggest problem was with Comcast (not surprising) why exchange the modem, you bought it (asked 5 times) when you received it provide the MAC and serial number which is both on the box and on the is within reach of the modem . It took 3 calls to support to get it working, the first 2 people either didn't know what they were doing or used the serial number to try to figure out if it was a stolen item. Comcast…

fast delivery, great price.

I received my RCA modem, fast shipping, great packaging, love how it looks, spent about five minutes with comcast tech support, gave them my mac number and model number , then he sent a test signal to see if my RCA got it working right away, after unplugging my phone and plugging in my router and VPN it could take ten minutes because I was trying to see if it would work without a comcast call but am very happy now, I am using windows 7 with an acer desktop phenom quad core, the manual does not…

Great price, great tips!

After a year and a half I searched and found the exact same modem that I rented from my cable company for $5 a month. I bought a used modem for $12, it works great and looks brand new. During the initial setup I accidentally plugged it in and did an online setup from my cable company. Save yourself the headache and don't make this mistake. I switched my modem from rented to bought back and forth, back and forth again. Eventually I unplugged the modems, called the cable company with the new IP…
