Works Great Electrical

This checks the wiring and works great. I want it to detect proper grounding and heating, but at least I know my vessels are working without having to carry a test lamp.

You can count on Klein Tools

Klein Tools has a well deserved reputation for making good tools. This socket tester is a handy item for the homeowner. Works well, does what it's supposed to.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Negativity exists

Saves lives (and money)

I used it to test outlets when we moved to a new apartment and found one had the neutral and hot wires reversed. Not only is this a safety hazard, it can also damage your electronics. This little tester can prevent that for a few bucks. This is a must have when moving to a new place.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No machine

A must for new homeowners

We bought our first house and it was a 1950's Rambler with 2 prong sockets. When we replaced the old outlets with the new three-prong ones, this little device really put our minds at ease and reassured us that we were doing our job right. It let us know quickly and easily when we accidentally swapped hot and cold wires.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No instructions

Very convenient with main sockets

This product works well with 110 sockets. I love how easy it is to use and understand. This is definitely something I would recommend. It's very versatile, but I would recommend using it for DIY jobs. I would recommend someone in commerce to invest in a more advanced device.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Expensive

If someone works with sockets, this is a MUST for him

This is much faster than using a voltmeter and the learning time is about 1 second. Either check your work (or fix the wrong wiring before it becomes a problem). Many Thanks,

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Some errors

Klein RT110 Basic (No GFCI) Socket Tester

I really like this Klein tester. So far it has worked fine for me. What I don't like is that it's done backwards. The T-shape of the block should be done upside down so you have something to grab when you pull it out and your fingers don't slip off. Sometimes it takes me two or three tries to get it out, especially when reaching for or around something. But other than that, it's a great tester.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Nothing

Fake Open Ground shown

I just bought an electric car and tried to charge it in my garage but it didn't work. I researched the problem online and found that it is often a ground fault, so I ordered this tester. It showed open ground so I called an electrician. The ground is fine, the whole garage is grounded and the connection to the house is also fine. This little thing was supposed to tell me that, but instead I had to pay an electrician for the information. He used a similar but accurate tester and multimeter to…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive

Socket problem

I use this to determine if the socket is plugged in properly and as another safety device along with my non-contact voltage sensor. I ran into a real problem yesterday. Required for work on the drain/dishwasher drain under the sink. I had to remove the dishwasher cord because the new dishwasher has a plug. Anyway, the removal worked. Circuit breaker is off, check if the line is dead. Did my job and tested the plug with a socket tester after turning on the switch. Generally no information…
