Why change something good

I don't know why these shoe companies are changing their product. The previous version of this model was phenomenal. I wore them off-road for two seasons prior to the update. I noticed right out of the box that they looked more plastic. I'm wearing a wide one that only comes in one color. Why? But after a few runs I found them uncomfortable, obviously not as wide as the previous pair when I put them sole to sole. The material seems stiffer and cheaper. I hope they crack in time. I went back to…

Pros
  • Fits great and quite comfortable!
Cons
  • Limited color options

A new version! size difference

This new version of the V8 has significantly different dimensions. I had 3 pairs before and they were all size 10. I ordered 10 more and they looked like clown shoes. Since then, I've also seen other reviewers complain about the poor quality of the new material. I'll try again before I continue because I used to be a big fan of theirs. Let the judgment begin.

Pros
  • I love the quick release system on these shoes
Cons
  • I haven't had these shoes in a very long time and haven't worn them much and they are falling apart. Is there help to exchange.

Wears out surprisingly quickly

I have bought many Salomon shoes over the years and I think they make incredible shoes. I had never bought this model before and had high expectations for the quality. I don't know if the problem I'm having with these shoes is a common one, but in less than a month the "mesh" mesh has failed in the area where the shoe engages in activities other than walking naturally bends. I will return to the Speedcross line because they are virtually indestructible regardless of activity level.

Pros
  • Very convenient
Cons
  • Low quality materials

Hard on the outside after 1 year, on the inside.

I love these shoes. My second pair that I wear every day. The outer seams never wear out, but after a year the inner heel is completely worn out. In all other shoes I've had, the outside wears out before the inside. Not sure if this is a complaint or just an observation.

Pros
  • Excellent trail running shoes I bought them for namely trail running and trail hiking.
Cons
  • Limited size available

I love my Solomon Islands! the best in my rating

This is my 4th pair (boots and shoes) as long as the manufacturers don't change anything (except better materials) I will keep buying them.

Pros
  • The lightweight design makes it easy and quick to move
Cons
  • Not as advertised

Unstable....! good for me

I've worn previous versions of these shoes because they offered stability on desert rocks, but I almost broke my ankles with this new model.

Pros
  • Delivers pleasant sensations
Cons
  • Unattractive design

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good but narrow for my rating.

I've been buying Salomon Trail shoes for my dirt/off-road touring and running for a number of years now. They really wrap around your ankles, which is a must due to many spikes over the years. This was the first time I switched from Speedcross to XA Pro 3d V8. The transition from a more neutral/stable shoe to full stability was amazing, my feet/ankles felt better on my first hometrail outing but after 10 minutes of easy walking I felt blisters which I had never felt in speedcross. After…

Pros
  • Provides exceptional support for the feet, ankles and arches
Cons
  • Missing finger protection

Really good shoes in my review.

Shoes are durable and comfortable. Solid sole I like. I was surprised how narrow the shoes are. I don't have wide feet at all and the shoes are almost tight. If you're used to Brooks or other big-toed running shoes, they're going to be tight.

Pros
  • The wide version is suitable for larger feet or those who need more room in their shoes.
Cons
  • Ankle pain when running on rocky terrain

Not for wet conditions

Disappointing grip on any wet surface. Logs, stones, even cobblestones. Otherwise they have good support. Turns on and off quickly.

Pros
  • The best shoes out there
Cons
  • Not suitable for long-distance runs.

Low quality is the best in my rating

Absolutely the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever bought. Advise…. The seller won't take them back without the tag and all, or they make a 'special' arrangement that you pay for shipping. I'm thinking of making my own "special offer" and spending my money elsewhere.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Shoelaces are junk, they cannot be replaced if they break

VERY BAD QUALITY!

These shoes have too many flaws to list. Unbelievable that they were even allowed to leave the factory. I was expecting this brand to be pretty decent. Big disappointment.

Pros
  • The Quicklace system allows for easy and quick adjustment
Cons
  • Loud squeaks when walking or running

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very convenient. to my rating.

They were nice looking shoes in black and very comfortable. I'm not a fan of the lacing system because the excess has to be tucked into the tongue. .

Pros
  • Toe cap offers extra durability and toe protection.
Cons
  • Inconvenient for everyday use

The best shoes! in my rating

I love these shoes perfect for trail running or hiking. Incredible arch and ankle support and great support. This is my second pair of this brand. They run a bit small, so I recommend ordering 1/2 size larger.

Pros
  • fits well
Cons
  • Causes blisters or hot spots

Loudest shoes in my review

I needed comfortable walking shoes. Very disappointed, people are looking around to see who is squeaking! What gives? Are these genuine copies of Solomon or China? Dissatisfied

Pros
  • The shoes are very beautiful and comfortable. They aren't cheap, but it's worth it. I will buy them again!
Cons
  • Not waterproof

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good fit but tread is slippery on wet surfaces.

I love the fit and they were ready to wear right out of the box. But I've found them to slide easily over wet surfaces like concrete and dirt. Shoes are not the best choice for wet weather.

Pros
  • Great quality and fit
Cons
  • This shoe is said to be wide only on the ticket, no shoe front, no sticker and no box, but I see it is not wide.

The new version is not the same as the old one

I wear these shoes all the time and love them, but this new version seems to have changed completely. It was very narrow at the heel and not as wide as before. I also used custom insoles in the previous version, but unfortunately this new shoe is not deep enough for insoles other than the ones that come with the kit. Now I'm looking for another brand that would suit me. I don't understand why they change anything, but it's okay.

Pros
  • Excellent
Cons
  • Too narrow or too wide for most feet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best shoes I've ever had.

I bought a second pair to have on hand if these eventually broke. They are great for all-day work, as well as hiking and jogging.

Pros
  • The minimalist lacing system ensures a secure and comfortable fit.
Cons
  • Not recommended for those with ankle injuries

Revainrating 5 out of 5

comfortable, good support, beautiful and breathable

I bought these shoes for both city running and trail running. They are great for that as they have a lot of tread but not too much to walk on cement. I quickly found myself wearing these casual shoes from time to time as they are very cute and comfortable. I would definitely recommend these for hybrid running shoes or everyday use.

Pros
  • The design of the shoe is gender specific, which offers more comfort and support for the male foot.
Cons
  • Difficult to clean or maintain

Excellent: my rating

I bought these shoes for a trip to the lake and a hike in the woods. These shoes worked great! They look great, the quality is phenomenal and they are true to size. They are lightweight, comfortable and have a durable construction. If you're on the fence, take my word for it and go get it!

Pros
  • I use them for hiking. Walked 80 miles in the mountains. No blisters or friction problems. The shoes are not excessively worn.
Cons
  • Difficult to put on and take off

Excellent cross-country skiers

I have bought 4 pairs of these shoes for a walk on the Camino de Santiago Copastela in the last four years. I wouldn't wear any other shoes.

Pros
  • You can't go wrong with Salomon.
Cons
  • Lack of adequate arch support
