They cut ropes and plastic for me

Installed on my Weller 8200, no problems. Heats up quickly and cuts cleanly. I had to adapt it to my soldering gun by bending each end after putting on the screw mounts, otherwise my mounts wouldn't fit the bent ends. However, this was easy enough for me.

    • Lots of positive emotions

    • Few bugs

Works perfectly! - Welding and soldering

Worked great and easy! My only problem was that I didn't know how to keep the power on the trigger of the soldering gun while keeping the strap on the cutting blade. I used velcro to hold the trigger and clipped the tool over the edge of my bench. After heating, he cut and sealed the ribbons "like butter."

    Pros
    • The best in its niche
    Cons
    • The list will be long.

With this tip you can cut the net and fishing line, as well as the rope.

I make a lot of woven ribbons and cords so the cutting and fixing is done in one step. No more cutting and merging the end with Bic. This reduces my webbing work by about half of what I used to do before. You think the cutting line is messy, cut the ribbon and don't fuse it, you could end up with a mess ON YOUR HANDS. This blade eliminated the problem of tip wear.

    Pros
    • Delivery was very fast
    Cons
    • Discontinued model

Suitable for cutting paracord and small rope

I bought this along with a Weber soldering iron for cutting rope and paracord. It's way faster than cutting and merging any other method I've found. It's not as convenient as a table-mounted hot-rope cutter, but it's a lot cheaper. The best way I've found is to lay the rope on a wooden board and press the tip of the soldering gun against the rope, against the board.

    Pros
    • Excellent design
    Cons
    • Something different

Looks like a toy - tiny - thin.

I was very surprised to see this thin thing. At best, it's 14 gauge. And if there's copper underneath, that's some of the worst chrome plating I've ever seen. A bending test shows that it is steel. So chrome steel. This means it will NOT bend easily. Even a broken "cutting part" that is thin enough, like the blade of a dull knife, will not bend. Well, as long as it's not brittle and I don't check to see if it breaks!

makes clean cuts in split cable glands

I have tried other means of cutting the wire harness nylon sleeves and then melting the ends with a lighter. This tip works much better! It's fast and makes a really clean cut with closed ends. My soldering iron is Weller 6200; They say it will work with this pistol and it will, but be aware that the "legs" are probably steel and it's quite difficult to bend them 90 degrees to fit them on a 6200 pistol to use. I think he designed them for use with a gun that has screws that hold the tips in…

Should have bought this years ago

I use this in my 40 year old Weller 8200 which is currently accepting peaks. with a sharp blade, and then I burn the ends with a kitchen torch or small torch. With the RCT, I lay rope on a piece of scrap wood, hold a piece of scrap metal over the cut as a cutting guide, heat the gun for about 30 seconds on the first click, and cut along the metal. I then use the flat side of the RCT to clean up any loose strands and seal the edges. I also use a small fan to blow fumes out of my face and put on…

    Installation can be a problem.

This tip works flawlessly, cutting line quickly and efficiently. The fit issue noted in other reviews may be an issue for some. My Weller 8200 soldering iron is over 40 years old. This version requires bending the ends of the tips that go into the gun (after installing the locknuts on the ends). A copper soldering tip has it easy, but a wire cutting tip is steel and difficult to bend. A bench vise or bench vise should do the job. After bending, the locking nuts will not come loose from the…

Cheap, flimsy, does not fit pistol as listed on website

Extra thin wires on cutting edge, does not fit Weller D550PK as advertised, I had to bend the loose ends a bit and use pliers around the curves to shape. Weller soldering gun bores are twice the size of the cutting wire ends. The set screws almost bypass the wires and grab the wires on the side of the gun bushings. It's so thin that I'm afraid to bend it while using it. The blade is only 1/2" long and too small to cut 5/8" nylon cord. Get a rope cutting tool instead of buying one and a Weller…

    Weller RCT Rope Cutting Tip

I have used this RCT tip in my Weller D550 soldering gun on high heat and it worked well for cutting paracord, polypropylene rope and even tough double braid anchor lines. . The ends that go into the soldering iron are a lot thinner than a standard soldering tip and I had to straighten them out a bit the first time I used them to fit the gun, but after that there was no problem getting the tip. to switch on and off. The tip heats up quickly and is ready to use in about ten seconds after pulling

    Installation can be a problem.

This tip works perfectly, it cuts polylines quickly and efficiently. Adjustment issues noted in other reviews , may be a problem for some, my Weller 8200 soldering iron is over 40 years old, for this option you need to bend the ends of the tips that go into the gun (before that, put lock nuts on the ends), the cutting tip is made of steel and is quite tricky to cut. A bench vice or bench vise should do the job. After bending, the locknuts won't come loose from the tip without straightening the…
