Good for cargo but beware of squeaky springs

I bought these because the rear of my 2001 Honda Odyssey sagged, especially when I loaded any kind of cargo in the car. The old shock absorbers did their job and were in good condition, but I thought the springs needed some help. To make matters worse, I've front installed unity rack assemblies and they're taking a very long time to set up. The front end has risen at least 2 inches. These Monroe shock absorbers are perfectly fitted and have a high-quality impression. They definitely raised theโ€ฆ

  • Some cons

I usually carry 700 pounds of excess weight and after 200,000 miles the rear end sagged under that weight. The ride wasn't bouncy (meaning the rear shocks hadn't exploded yet), but I just didn't like the sag because it gave the minivan a gangster look. These shocks appear to have raised the rear end by about 1 inch (200 miles on them to confirm) and the sag, while not gone, is visually much less than worn OEM shocks. The minivan looks almost lined up even at 700 pounds; without the weight, itโ€ฆ

Good choice for 1st generation Honda Pilot with sagging rear

We have a 2007 Honda Pilot with 150,000 miles on it. Like every other Gen 1 Pilot, the rear springs began to loosen, causing the rear end to sag a bitโ€”even without the weight of the car. The biggest problem with rear sag is that it changes the geometry of the rear triangle, leading to accelerated wear on the inside of the rear tires, also known as excessive negative camber. There are several solutions to this problem: new rear springs, adjustable upper arms, airbags and this option is springโ€ฆ

Good alternative to custom springs

Kit installed on a 2003 Honda Odyssey that I use to tow a boat. Full fuel + rest gear increases the tow weight to over 2,800 pounds. This product has helped eliminate rear squats when towing. When I stow the boat trailer, the back of our van goes up a bit, but I've found that this actually helps save fuel on the highway (I carefully chart fuel consumption versus miles on each trip). I no longer scrape the factory Honda clutch when backing up steep driveways, and the van is more stable as I head

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Easy to install but you must have the right tools.

I'm towing a 2002 Honda Odyssey RV. I chose them because they are what the car had before or something similar, a shock absorber with an extra spring to load the rear of the car. I don't know how long the old shocks lasted, but the new shocks raised the rear of the car about 1.5 inches. I knew if the shocks were old or bad because when you hit a bump your back jerks up and down. Driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey in a pop-up RV isn't difficult at all, I'm told. One of the surprising effects of theโ€ฆ
