Does what it's supposed to do

This allows me to watch and record one of my local channels that has been down for months due to contract disputes. Now I can also record two local stations and two pools at the same time. It was easy to install. All you need is an external antenna to receive local channels. In fact I can't refuse to pay for local channels as some of them don't show programs in the channel guide so I can't tell what programs are on. In general I am very satisfied.

Works well and can reduce monthly charges on some dish receivers

This module works very well and provides local TV for both HD and SD outputs on a dual tuner receiver such as the 722k. I was a bit annoyed that my 211z and 722k receivers didn't have a built in tuner, but after a few weeks of use I have to say that it works better on the 722k than on my old 622. Too bad there is no way to play local channels (with exception of monthly payment of Dish) in 211z. I bought 211k (with local tuner) to solve this problem.

  • Easy to read control panel

OTA via Dish Receiver

Arrived on time, well packaged and as described. This antenna module is actually a more sensitive receiver than my TV's tuner. It connects directly to your dish receiver. Connect the antenna coaxial cable and scan the channels. When this is done, the channels will appear in your pool guide, although the channels that this dish doesn't already have have no content other than the channel number. This thing works great and now I can see over-the-air channels from my antenna through the satellite…

Return this item

I bought an OTA module for my VIP722 dish, received it and installed it according to the instructions. Immediately after installation I started getting screen break messages stating that the signal had been lost - on channels arriving via DISH. That happened quite often. I've tried restarting the receiver several times to no avail. I tried to buy and install a new OTA antenna. It was of no use. I removed the OTA module and the dish receiver works as expected again with no pop-up messages…

Over the Air TV Module

I bought this module when I was upgrading from a 622 to a 922. My 622 had a built in OTA tuner but my 922 didn't. I ordered and received this before Dish released the upgrade receiver so installation was easy as I was able to install it before the tech had connected everything to the entertainment system. The technician even said he would do it for me since I had everything ready to install. Once the tuner has booted up (which takes forever on the 922) you can easily add live channels yourself…

With an OTA antenna you can get local and network sub-channels

You can add locals to your Dish account and save $10 a month. This works great and has the added benefit of integrating all or your OTA feeds into the DVR's recording and scheduling, just like you would get them from Dish. In addition, with an OTA antenna, you can receive sub-channels that are not available in the Dish program channel. The sub-channels are often better than the network's main channels and offer a great selection of retro shows from the 50's to the 70's. It allows you to record,

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • A lot is possible

It does what it's supposed to do, takes the signal from your antenna, decodes it and puts it into your 722k or 222k HD dish receiver. It's a good, powerful tuner, which means it finds and uses a signal, which is better than most of those little digital tuners and cheap TVs. It also adds your selected local channels to the channel guide and shows the relative signal strength of each channel. Another coaxial tuner connection adds a second coaxial output for the first tuner using channel 3 or 4…

  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not the best

Cannot access/watch OTA channels when satellite signal is COMPLETELY lost

Advantages: - Combines OTA channels with existing dish programming menu - Allows my Dish Vip722 DVR to add 2 additional OTA channels or record 4 events in total (if I ever need to record more than 2 events at once one day). However, be aware that the OTA signal may change and fade, so you may miss part of the recording (like in my case). Negatives: - A PARTIAL loss of satellite signal allows you to watch OTA channels, but the COMPLETE loss of satellite signal makes my Vip722 receiver completely

This Over The Air module is just too cool!

I have had an OTA antenna with an amplifier for 6 years. This was only used when my DISH™ signal was blocked by weather and the like. Recently, local broadcaster FOX decided to charge exorbitant fees to allow DISH™ to broadcast their FREE channels! (Thanks to our 1992 Congress). After much research I found out that this module is made by DISH™. They sell it for $50 + shipping. On the other hand, The Connection Depot sells it for $39 and FREE shipping! I could not resist. It arrived a few days…
