Works but poor quality tool. For the price paid I expected low quality but no problems ready to use. Apparently the mechanic used blue Loctite in the screw and made a mess. The knife needs to roll and has been blocked. I had to snap off the separator roller to get the screw out, then use a razor blade to remove all of the Loctite and reassemble the new separator roller to get it working properly. Easy to use but the product I received was not square. The copper plate did not fully fit the black cone causing the marker line to move during use. This was easily overcome with an F-clamp (a vise would also work) by squeezing them together with a clamp. Seriously? I don't expect perfection from such a cheap tool, but a ruler and dollar pen would be better. The dimensions don't even come close. This is 1/4 inch (see picture). The metric side is no better. If you just want to scratch the wood, use a knife. If you want to repeat this marking, buy a working template. There were two things that prevented this sensor from working properly from the start: - The cutting edge was not sharp. Imagine a "butter knife". The face was very badly cut. Think of the record. A dull edge is easily remedied by removing it and sharpening it with diamond stones. The ridged surface caused it to hug the edge of the tree instead of gliding smoothly over it.
