Doesn't work with Echo Plus

I can get Echo Plus to add a device and it just says "There was a problem" and shows the contact sensor as permanently closed. Cannot add Echo Plus to Smart Life app. Hours lost trying to get it to work.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Easy setup right from Echo Hub. NO MOTION NEVER DETECTED

It took a few seconds to connect to my new Echo 4. Dead easy. Then wait. I couldn't get it to detect movement. Replaced with new batteries and still the same. I could parade a herd of elephants next to this thing, followed by a bunch of crappy shotgun-shooting tubas, and this thing would sleep it all.

Works with Echo Studio after multiple attempts to connect

Pairing with Echo Studio is harder than I thought. I have several of these. Here's what I've tried to get it working: 1. Replace the included battery and then reset it. The ones that came with mine were bad and I was scratching my head trying to figure out why they weren't working.2. If Echo still can't find the device, try restarting Echo by disconnecting and reconnecting the device. It helps me. The motion detector does a great job of detecting motion, but it takes a while (around 40-60…

Unreliable connection

This was the first of two door sensors I bought from this brand, the second is the Wi-Fi version. Both versions are very unreliable, but this one is far worse. I spent minutes if not hours playing around with it and trying to pair and connect it through the Alexa app. The Smart Life app couldn't even find it. It just said I need to connect the hub first and my Echo Studio's hub can't be found either. Alexa was the only app I could find but couldn't reliably get it to work. The magnet and sensor

Works with Smartthings with the right appliance handle

Works with Smartthings despite another 1 star review claiming it doesn't. I tried using both the motion sensor and the contact sensor and both paired after resetting by holding the reset button for 5 seconds. They are recognized as "Thing", you need to switch them to the correct device handler in the IDE. "Smartsense Motion Sensor" for the motion sensor and "Smartsense Open/Close Sensor" for the contact sensor do the job. They work locally, not in the cloud, so they're pretty fast. The motion…

Sometimes needs a break and may need to restart Echo

I have a motion sensor at the top of the stairs to the basement to turn on the light for me. Yes, there is a switch I could use, but the wiring is such that only one bulb is lit, the rest are turned on independently of the bulb. Instead of re-wiring the basement, I replaced the lights with smart bulbs, so now the lights are on everywhere. The only issue I had (besides the initial setup below) is that the sensor sometimes becomes unresponsive. I've found that if he sees too much movement in a…

Easy Alexa integration with Alexa Plus Hub

I've tried several motion detectors for our home automation set up with Alexa Echos, Cubes and Fire Sticks. I've had good luck with the Echo Flex too, except your location is limited to the outlet. So we needed a motion sensor that could be installed anywhere and worked flawlessly, unlike another mainstream brand that looks the same but is sold under different names. Go to the Alexa app, select "Add a device" and then "Other device". Insert the pin into the mounting hole on the sensor and hold…

Flashing red LED and unknown label

It works, it's cheap but there are some problems. I probably won't continue to use them unless I find something better. 1 - The photos show a completely clean unit, but all 3 I've ordered have the words "AGSHOME" written on the front. At first glance, it looks like it says "asshole". I'm not the only person who thought of it at first glance. They should be completely brand-free. There's no reason for that, and Revain's pictures are deceptive. 2 - Inside the detector body there is a red LED that

Works with my 4th Gen Echo.

This rating relates to the motion sensor. Bought to use with the 4th Gen Echo. Here's what I did to get it working. I opened the Alexa app on my phone, selected "Devices" and clicked the plus sign in the top right corner to add a new device. Click Add device and then scroll to Other. Clicked on that, and before I clicked discover devices at the bottom of the screen, I turned on the motion sensor, took the reset pin that came with the motion sensor, and found the reset hole (which is under the…

So far so good with motion detector

I bought 4 of them but only installed one so far. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to use the others. I bought two for my house and two for my parents house. The one currently used is with my parents. You have a covered front door. So it shouldn't get wet if it rains and it hasn't rained yet. I used to have a flashlight there. I replaced that light with this motion sensor and attached a wifi lightbulb to a regular outlet above the entryway. I created a routine so now if anyone…
