Review on Highly Accurate Stronghero3D Printing Filament - 0.03mm Precision by Eric Ross

Inconsistency from party to party. I reject

I had a really bad experience with Stronghero3D PETg a while ago and decided to give it another try and to my surprise it worked very well. I ordered more spools and it prints very evenly and very cleanly. I still have 4 coils and 4 prints with the same settings I've been using for months: 75c bed, 255c nozzle, all good clean prints. These coils were dated May 2020. Looks like it was a move to PETg. It worked well for about a dozen coils. I was tight, I repeated the order, expecting the same, and no. i have something strange The first printout jammed, but for no particular reason, I pulled it in, skipped it again, and everything was fine. Tried another spool on another machine, still clogged, and again for no reason, pulled it back in, put on, worked fine. I have found that the newer August 2020 rolls produce much glossier detail so I lowered the temp to 240 and got a very good 4 hour print with no clogging. They seem to keep messing around with their mix and that's not the best. I had a 10 hour push with settings that seemed fine, just started squirting and started squeezing out weirdly. There was another print that needed a little more cooling, set the fan to 10% and started clogging. I give up. This comes back to Revain with 2 unopened spools because I'm not a masochist and 2 spools were partially used as I wanted to confirm it was the entire batch as my order for 4 was split between 2 distribution centers and both the same weird ones delivered results.

Pros
  • Stronghero3D PETG filament 1.75mm black, the cheapest price, practically more useful than PLA filament, suitable for plastic recycling systems, better than biodegradable. In fact, there aren't any dedicated composting spots, are there?
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
