Keep it Simple Stupid

This great little kit has everything you need to disassemble modern jerry cans. And people say the government is here to help us. Politics aside, the yellow screw tops are different from the black ones (three per set) so it's safe to say wherever you buy the jar you're getting a working replacement. . My cans were Rural King, all three including a small 1 gallon petroleum can had yellow caps. The rubber seals were of good quality and did not leak when fitted correctly. Just drill a hole big enough to open the vent on the back. I think I used a 31/64 bit, but it's just a tad smaller than the hole in the vent. Drill as needed and tap lightly and boom, your glass dates back to the 1980s when something this simple didn't need a $30 repair to make it work. The price you pay for this little set is worth the hassle of having to use any modern glass. Also, use needle nose pliers to remove that useless mesh-like plastic insert that makes the fuel pump click when filling. Just do it slowly so you don't shove it all into the jar and it stays swimming in it forever. Ask me how I know.
