I've had a hard time even diagnosing a pump problem with my carpet cleaner. As other reviews say, start with the simple things and work your way up to the expensive ones. Check for clogged lines, clogged heater (if present), clogged air ducts, low water/detergent level, stuck mixer valve, etc. I tested my machine many times before realizing everything worked except the pump and units. sealed, I could not check anything in the pump. That's why I bought this pump along with the BISSELL PROHeat Belt Accessory Kit, 6960W, because while you're at it, you can too. Installing the pump is not difficult, but please make a note of which hoses are connected. I can only imagine what would happen if you swapped the pair and directed the solution at the vacuum motor and not the heater or spray nozzles. My car is at least 15 years old, maybe older, and it's still running as well as before. This was the bulkiest part I replaced but the main thing is to clean the vacuum very well after use. Pass plenty of clean water through, then allow them to dry as much as possible before putting away and they will last a long time.
