My first do-it-yourself oil change on a new Subaru Forester didn't go well The drain plug was over tightened and the dealer may not have used a wiper. Even a 6 point head on the switch won't move it. Not wanting to damage the oil pan, I figured it would be best to use "one of those" dipstick pumps. This pump that I bought from Revain drained most of the oil and I was able to complete the change. Based on the amount of oil and the amount of new oil the engine used, I'd say that (maybe) a pint or so couldn't be recovered. Given the current situation, I'll probably continue to use the pump and maybe experiment with different types of dip tubes.
