I have used Caron One Pound for many crochet projects. I found that the success of the project depends on the type of stitches and the size of the hook used. The tighter and more difficult the stitch, the stiffer and rougher this yarn will feel. The simpler and looser the stitch, the softer it feels and the better it drapes. Although this is a worsted yarn that requires a US H/8 (5mm) hook, I use 8mm, 10mm and 12mm hooks for some things. Of course, for most garments it is important that you stick to the measurements you are working with, otherwise the size will run out. But for some shawls and scarves where thickness isn't that important and you want the garment to drape well, like the scarf with pockets pictured, a large crochet hook works surprisingly well with this yarn. For this project, I used a 15" x 60" strand. This yarn can be expensive on Amazon. $10 or $12 is reasonable and I paid for it. $22 no.
